That's odd... I was randomly poking through this forum yesterday as well, wondering about all these seemingly dead projects.

alright then, random charsets or should everyone provide one?

Do you still have my charset?

alright, I got a problem. After a conversation in the game, the map goes black, teleports the hero to another map, screen goes normal.

Then, I have assigned the hero to move, but when he does, he walks like, the first 3 steps and the screen or the hero is going slower, even slower then supposed to, and he walks on to a pillar and stops. No matter what I edit, it keeps doing that. Don't know what's wrong..

Do you have any variables or switches in an autostart event that might be repeating?

I accidentally did that once with an event that increased the player's gold. It was an unfinished parallel process event that didn't have anything to switch it off, so it constantly added gold and slowed the program down so much that the player could barely move.

I still have yours.

And I could try that.

Or just create a new game, and make the maps and everything the same, but my switches organized..

Progress is actually going well. This time I'm really enjoying of making this..

Before I get the demo out for everyone, I'll need someone to check on grammar and spelling and all that shit.. some kind of beta tester.

Anyone want to volunteer?

I'm usually busy with school, but I've got the next couple of days off, so I wouldn't mind doing some English checking.

Thnx averyone ^_^

@ Stars and Kamau: When the demo is ready I'll pm you a download link. If you find any errors pm me and I'll try to fix them. For the spelling and grammar: If you find any things that are wrong (and I'm sure you will find them) also pm me. PM the text that is wrong, and any suggestions for it. I will edit it them and when it's done, it's done DONE =)

I'm thinking there will be more parts of the game. I'm afraid that if I work to long on just one, I'll get bored and stop making it.. so.

Anyway, thnx for the help and comments =)

I need some help with a puzzle.

In this room you got a pillar and it has to be put on a switch. Now, when the pillar gets on it, I want it to play a sound (just once) and that's it. same goes for the other switches and pillars in the room. after all the pillars are on the switches I want something to happen. but only when all pillars are on the switches. how do I do this cause I can't get it to work..

You mean like programming wise? 'cause I'm not very good at that at all, but it sounds like you want to do something like an if-then statement. Like "IF object is on space AND otherobject is on otherspace THEN sound plays." But I guess it doesn't work like that...

If I understood that correctly, you'll want one switch and one variable for this puzzle, plus one switch per pillar.

When a pillar is in place, have its event play the sound you want, add +1 to the variable (to keep track of how many pillars are in place), then turn on a switch so that this only happens once and so that the pillar can no longer be moved (if you want it to stay in place).

Then you'll need a parallel process event that activates when your variable matches the number of pillars (e.g., if you have four pillars, the event will activate when the variable is set to 4). This event will be whatever happens when the puzzle is solved, and you'll need to turn on that last switch at the end so that the "solution" only happens once.

If that doesn't help, post the code you're using, and I'll look it over.

This is the code for the switch.

@ Stars: What I have now is that you can move the pillar once it is in place. What you mentioned, that the pillar can't be moved after it's in place, is a very good idea. That way I won't have to bother with other switches or variables to get what I want. I'll try that out to see if it works, I'll let you guys know. On a side note: Progress is going steady. I find it very difficult to come up with some good puzzles and ones that I can actually make. After I'm done with this one, and this particular area of the game, I'm going to search the web to find some other ones. But if you guys have any idea at all, that would be really helpful. It really doesn't matter what kind of idea it is for a puzzle cause it can me made so that is fits in the game.

Further more, I'll post some screens.

Posted Image

Part of the intro. Monkeydog telling the other members there's something wrong. What could it be?

Posted Image

The Pits of Spam. It looks like a holy and beautiful place, on purpose! btw: all the new areas you'll walk in will have the text (shown right down on the screen)

Posted Image

The Dutch-io Shrine. Nothing special really.. It's just part of the intro or some kind..

Posted Image

Forum games. A pretty large area with lots of ways to walk and a beginning puzzle.

Posted Image

The first puzzle in the game :)

Something went wrong with the guys I'm working with...

Yay! It's Monkey and the others!

A little bit more of the same map. Pretty high tech xD

That's it for now. Hope you guys like :)

Thnx :)

I finally got the switch/pillar thing working so now I know how it works. Which is good as I can make more puzzles now with this kind of things ;)
If progress is going just like now a demo may be out soon :D

Alright, when I'm done with the next puzzle room and a little more, I need someone to test the game and to correct grammar and spelling. One or two people should be enough, who wants to do this?

I'm good with grammar and spelling, but I'm afraid I shall be busy working and doing school stuff until late evenings until further notice. I tend to play games and other stuff in starts and spurts lately.

Lemme know when you have time. I'm busy with school at the moment, till Thursday, and Friday I'm in Amsterdam for Jeff Dunham, weekend busy with birthday and everything, so I think working on the game this week will be at a minimum.
When I'm done, I'll let you know ;)
