I am pro-life because I don't believe someone has the right to murder. In light of all the evidence, it is murder. I'm pro-union because union are a great way to check some corporate power.

We've made too many compromises already, too many retreats. They invade our space, and we fall back. They assimilate entire worlds, and we fall back. Not again. The line must be drawn here! This far and no further!

Fair enough. Personally I believe that while the foetus is entirely dependent upon the mother for immediate survival that the woman should have absolute freedom to do with her body as she chooses.

Are you opposed to abortions that have medical benefits to the mother (e.g. giving birth would impair her quality of life or leave her infertile)? How about in cases of pregnancy through rape?

I am concerned that criminalizing abortions will ultimately lead to two situations, either the mother is forced to raise a child that she does not or cannot support or she must undergo an illegal abortion that is not regulated and is potentially dangerous to her health. I don't think the underlying reasons people wish to have abortions will disappear through criminalization, instead people will just be more powerless to deal with them.

Finally, I have no concern with defending the rights of those who have not experienced life outside of the womb and do not have the capacity to comprehend it. I have much more concern for defending the right of women to decide if and when they want to raise a child.

I believe that there are two exceptions when an abortion is permissible. When, if the pregnancy continues, both mother and child will die or when, if the pregnancy continues, one of the two will die.

Apparently the new Pope is going to be announced soon.

EDIT: Jorge Mario Bergoglio of Argentina, now Pope Francis I.

I find it fascinating that a Jesuit was named pope. What are the chances that they would choose a JESUIT!?

i think it's funny that the last pope was a hitlerjugen, and the new pope was tied to junta kidnappings.

i'm starting to think working on an ocean freighter would be pretty rad. it's like the deadliest catch reserves.

I saw that on Engadget.

My first thoughts were of you.

That's pretty stupid though. I feel like Reader was pretty popular. I hope the backlash is enough to keep it up.

I liked Google Reader for a while, but once I started reading stuff on my phone more than on the web I got more and more used to Pulse, and now I like that more. So I'm not too disappointed.

I could never get in to pulse. Reader just made it so easy to quickly get through a lot of items. I'm really considering reducing my google using to just the few things I can't replace elsewhere, like calendar (I know there are alternatives, but the wife and I sync our work calendars on each other's phones). Reader was my most visited site, and second most used phone app (after Pocket Casts). And judging by what I'm reading across the web, I'm not the only one who feels so strongly about this. This is disappointing on so many levels.

I've legitimately never used Google Reader, or RSS feeds at all for that matter. Someone tell me what I'm missing. I seem to operate fine without them. I didn't even know Google Reader was a thing until today (thought it was a PDF reader ._.)! Someone enlighten me!

RSS and google reader make it easy to go through a lot of content quickly. Everybody seems to use it a little differently, but for me it was about following sites that I wanted to see every update from, but didn't necessarily want to read every update. Sites like Lifehacker or Rock Paper Shotgun, which have several updates per day. With Google Reader, I could see only the updates that I haven't already, and go through them quickly. I liked reader, because I could read the headlines, and decide to not read a story if it didn't apply to me.

Another example would be a site that I want to follow, but that doesn't update very often, like In Saturns Rings. With RSS, all I need to do is check my reader of choice, and I will only see when the site updates. That way I can still catch each update, without having to visit the site all the time.

Some people use Google Reader to go through dozens or hundreds of blogs. That's a bit too much for me (I think the most I've ever had is 40, but average around 20), but google reader is still currently the easiest way to follow websites and blogs.

One reason I don't like apps like Pulse is because they are just too slow. Pulse, Google Currents, and Flipboard are all essentially fancy RSS readers. They are good apps, and they look good, but they simply aren't as convenient for following several sites and reading a lot of content.
