I don't think it's a fad just based on its ridiculousness. A lot of people I know, including me, just like the song. Thus why you're probably the only person sick of it.

While i certainly don't mind internet video, and am especially impressed with advancements in streaming media the last few hears... i hope that I'm not the only person here who hates hates hates that the most popular video game related content is all becoming video content, instead of written. Sometimes I just want to read a review, ya know what I mean? I don't have a lot of time to just chill out at my computer, and I guess I want to have full control over the level of ambiance... or some ridiculous excuse like that.

This rant came about while playing Borderlands 2, and having a little bit of trouble with a side quest. I was looking for the answer to one question. I did not want an entire walk through. I swear that every google result on the first two pages was all video walk throughs, and I just don't have to time to sit through a walk through of the entire side quest if all I want to do is quickly get back to the game. Also, if I start watching a game video that features commentary I'm likely to rage quit the video on the spot. In general I don't want to hear the voices of people I don't know or care about.

I just want to see words!

Also, fuck IGN.

I've had that issue too! I found that yahoo seemed to have decent answers, at least when it came to the game I was looking up.

I also don't like the video game walkthroughs just because I have friends who pretend they "know the game" because they watched someone else play it. I can understand watching it if you don't have time to play...but then to claim you can play a game just as well as someone who actually has been playing, just because you watched it, is irritating.

Gamefaqs still gets plenty of written walkthroughs and such for new games. That's where I go if I want to look something up.

there's generally a wikia/wikispaces/wikidot page for whatever game you're playing. i've never actually sat with my laptop and looked up a guide for a game i was playing on a console while i played it, no attention spans over here.

Gamefaqs works 99% of the time. BL2 seems to be a bit too new for the information I was looking for (I just checked again, and the only available FAQ is pretty useless). I just wanted a very small bit of information to continue the quest, since for some reason I couldn't figure out how to activate a certain switch. The entire first page of google results was to video walk throughs, a bunch on youtube, and about half of them were just hot-linking the IGN walk through. The Steam Overlay browser works well enough, and will even play flash videos, but I just wanted to know one thing.

I eventually watched a 17 minute walk through of the quest, skipping as much as I could. The only reason it was 17 minutes is because, instead of trying to make it like a traditional walk through, this person just recorded themselves playing. They recorded all of their OCD item collecting, their poor combat skills, and, ironically, them trying to figure out the same problem I had. They put it in a video file and called it a walk through. Maybe I shouldn't be so hard on IGN. They, at least, probably would have been straight to the point. Sigh.

what's the problem? BL 1's ultimate answer was "shoot it til it dies" are there more elements to BL2?

We finally got to try out the board game I got my neighbor for his birthday back in July. xp It was quite fun.

Flashpoint is a cooperative fire-fighting game. We needed to save 7 victims from a burning building to win, and 4 deaths or the building's collapse would cause us to lose. We got in one game after learning the rules (the "family" version, not the more complicated "experienced" rules just yet), and it was a near thing. After we rescued our seventh victim (a puppy~), we decided to see if we could get all of the players out of the building in time as well. Our last two (of four) players opted to abandon the cat they had found, and the building crumbled spectacularly just after the last person made it outside. We lost the cat and two humans (one from a previous explosion, one from the collapse), but we saved enough people to have the game declared a success.

Sadly my neighbor is moving to Texas later this week, and we don't know for how long, so who knows when we'll get to play again. =/
