what the fuck is wrong with the people in my city?
for the last few years, i've cut my own hair and i've worked through quite a few different styles and whatnot, and lately i've settled on a style i thought looked kinda cute. anyway, i walk into denny's and wait to be seated, and from the corner table, a man (probably in his 50s) seated with presumably, his wife, yells "hey, pal, you look like a girl. do you need help taking off your wig?". i nervously laughed and smiled, and pretended not to notice him. again, he calls "you, i'm talking to you. do you need help cutting your hair? i'll go over there right now." I'm typically pretty awkward, especially around strangers, so I'm sure by this point I was visibly nervous. I laughed to be polite and made no eye contact, and in my peripheral vision I can see his wife struggling to hold him back. Wtf? I walked and sat myself down on the complete opposite side of the restaurant so I wouldn't give him the chance to keep acting belligerently.
But it didn't end there. On my way driving back to my house, I notice a pack of four cars driving in a line that proceed to stop at the light. They're all in one of the left-hand turn lanes. I needed to make the left, so I take the unoccupied lane. I hear shouting, and the people in the car next to me looked as if they were signaling me to roll down my windows. Besides the five cars, the street was entirely desolate. I figured they may have wanted directions, so I reach across and roll down my window. Then I realize that wasn't what they wanted at all. They were actually trying to insult me, I think. "Hey fag, go kick rocks somewhere". Not that this would excuse their actions, but I feel as if they may have just been drunk. Instead of making the left turn with them, I U-Turned. I should also point out that it's not as if I was wearing anything remotely flamboyant. I was dressed in business casual: slacks, nice shoes, and a polo.
seriously. what is wrong with people these days?
