VP and I watched Free to Play on Netflix. I made fun of it at first, but really got into it. Kinda makes me want to try DotA, but I doubt I will. It did spark a conversation of how we would proceed if either/ both of our kids wanted to make gaming a career.

Started watching Adventure Time.

 

I can't say I don't like it, I'm still kinda on the fence. There are moments I find hilarious and then moments I find less than stellar. I just watched the episode where Treetrucks dies after she bites into the Crystal Apple. I was actually sad by that.

Also while the first two seasons have some good stuff to them, you really should start with the third if you want to see why the show is truly great. Because that's when it really starts to expand its reach in what stories it tells.

I'm going through a bunch of Confused Matthew reviews. I like his opinions, as I usually find myself remembering stupid things in beloved films and TV.

 

So far my favorite line from the Star Trek Into Darkness review (he's talking about how the writers don't have anything consistently good under their belt):

 

"But no, they keep going back to these three whose only accomplishments so far have been Transformers and Fringe. Transformers was fucking awful, and Fringe was good for about four seasons and then it jumped a shark, landed on another shark, and started waterskiing with sharks strapped to its feet."

So only season 1 of Adventure time was on Netflix. I'll be getting the next few seasons from the wonderful world wide web.

 

In the mean time I started Attack on Titan. HOLY SHIT. ALL THE FEELS!

I watched Battle Royal, out of curiosity - Not as much fun as I wanted it to be.

You should watch Attack on Titan Abridged, I've never seen the show so it was probably funnier for me but that shits hilarious. Why though... I'm just not into Anime really, but I did enjoy Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood and Hajime No Ippo, and some Dragonball Z when I was younger.

Watcher Monster directly after Attack on Titan kind of soured me on it though (because Monster is just godly). Buuuuut it's so much fun and intense I need it now.

I recorded a ton of new Whose Line episodes and then watched maybe 2 or 3 of them. =/

 

Just finished Silver Linings Playbook. It was pretty okay once I got used to the clinically obnoxious characters.

I think part of the problem is they rely too much on the guest stars. It's just ugh. Also I wish Jon Benjamin would guest on the show. The banter between those two would be beautiful.

 

This is a post in which I hate How I Met Your Mother's ending.

I was genuinely liking it until about 10 minutes before the end. I thought it was nice, going through the years seeing how the characters lives happen and was nice. Maybe not super funny, but enjoyable and I liked it. I loved that nobody, except maybe Ted, was having a very good life either. Because that's just how things are, and it was nice to see that. Robin/Barney's divorce made sense, and Barney just wanting to be who he was made sense. Even if it kind of betrayed character growth over the past few seasons, I don't know. In the end Barney is Barney and Robin is Robin and no matter how much one grows as a person that doesn't always change everything about you. Marshall/Lily were having an okay life, but Marshall had a kind of shit job and it took years before he got somewhere he wanted to be. That made sense.

 

But what is so fucked up and what I hate so much is why did the mother have to die? It was foretold by the crazy HIMYM conspiracy theorists and it freaked me out a few weeks ago when it seemed like it would end up that way. And it did. And it was terrible.

 

A) The reveal was quick and so bad. Mainly because of the acting (of the kids) and the editing. They didn't even seem to care their mother was dead or their dad just told them a long long story about wanting to fuck Robin bad.

 

B) Ted literally told a story about how he wanted to fuck Robin bad. Does he not care about the mother? I mean she's six years gone at that point, so it may make a little sense realistically. But the way the story is told and how the reveal and everything is done is just so wrong it feels so bad and evil and ugh.

 

C) They spent all season making me love the mother just to kill her? Seriously? Cristin Milioti was so great as the mother. She was probably the best character in a long while, and actually made me like Ted. I really wanted more HIMYM just to spend time with her and Ted. But no. She's dead because it was foretold 9 years ago. 

 

D) It completely ruins everything about Ted/Robin's relationship that happened this season. Like Ted finally let go, grew up, and found the perfect woman. How can Robin even compare to Tracey? Ted/Robin is so played out. It slightly made sense these past two seasons but only because they weren't getting back together and it was about Ted coping with that and moving on. Having them get together is just no. 

 

 

ahhhh. I'm filled with so many emotions. Mostly of hate. I am so mad that this is how it ended. I loved the show, even through the ehhh later seasons. I've followed it since close to its beginnings and I feel so betrayed by this. Stupid stupid ending. I think it might have worked when it was first though of, in the first two seasons. I wouldn't have cared so much if the mother was Victoria or something. I wouldn't have cared so much of Tracey wasn't perfect and I loved her character and it really was "destiny". Ted could have still made a good excuse to be in love with Robin in the first few seasons without growing out of her. But all those things happened. And it's made me really mad/sad.

 

This shall give me strength.
