I was willing to give this movie a chance the first time I saw it. Thought the designs were ugly as sin, but maybe it will carve out a niche in the TMNT world.

 

Nooooooooope. They showed the scene where they establish that they are teenage mutant ninja turtles (when has the title ever had to be explained for this franchise) and then an awkward 10 second ride in an elevator with the turtles. Where once I was willing to give it a shot I now wish to hold its head under the water.

This would probably be like if Beethoven were forced to add another movement to a symphony. Toy Story 3 got a 100% Rotten Tomatoes rating. Once something is over in a perfect way, just leave it be and do something else (like an Incredibles sequel, which is actually something people want).

 

I was actually expecting the most recent subject to be "Star Wars VII: The Force Wakes Up"

... or "Star Wars VIII: The Force Makes Coffee:

... or "Star Wars IX: The Force Goes to Work"

 

I am sure it will be terrible, almost as much as the next Star Trek film.

 

...only Star Trek will always be better. There, I said it.

I still can't understand why people didn't like Tron 2. It had good music and visuals, and nothing else was really that important.

I hear people say that "everybody says it looks amazing, but I think it looks terrible." Oddly that's the only opinion I've seen so far. (EDIT) That and "I thought Disney already made Wreck-It Ralph," which makes as much sense as comparing The Illusionist to The Prestige. It actually reminds me more of an episode of Futurama.

I'll probably go see it. Sure it looks dumb, but I don't watch Adam Sandler movies for the intellectual thoughts they provoke.

Just remember, even though he didn't star in it, the last time Adam Sandler was involved in a movie about video games, it was Grandma's Boy.

I fortunately never subjected myself to Grandma's Boy. I'm not a huge fan of Sandler, but I do enjoy some of his movies when I'm in the right mood.
