Also it's done in conjunction with Toho so at least we know it'll have some integrity.

Plus, Godzilla has only been rebooted like...twice? In 60 years? Not counting the terrible American movie because nobody should count it. And there hasn't been a Godzilla movie in almost ten years. It's due for one, and I hope it's really good.

I'm really hoping it ends up being like Rise of the Planet of the Apes, a reboot of a classic series that might not be really needed and kind flies under the radar but ends up being excellent and well worth the effort. (and I really hope Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is as good)

Alright then. I'll set all cynicisms aside unless I'm given any convincing reason to be cynical again. The monster wins.

The universe is a cruel, uncaring void. The key to being happy isn't a search for meaning. It's to just keep yourself busy with unimportant nonsense, and eventually, you'll be dead.

Rise was great because of Andy Serkis' vast collection of crotchless ape costumes, and frida pinto's hotness. Dawn's story sounds weak, but who's watching it for the story? it will probably end on a hopeful note, but then we know everything will go to shit in the third movie, and then everyone lives happily ever after. Scream really ruined a lot of movies because of how much it clued people in to how trilogies work.

after that, they'll spiderman it, and we'll get a forgettable Beneath The Planet Of The Apes starring Crispin Glover as Brutus, the love to hate him Golden Lion Tamarin, who kills Caesar to death to usurp his rule, and challenge humanity, only to be outmatched by our sheer ruthlessness. then everyone dies like in the alternate ending of Terminator 2, and nothing more is made for 40 more years.

so the new Godzilla is supposed to be more like the classic Kaiju films than that one i like to pretend doesn't exist. it might not be terrible after all.

I know it already came out and it has been confirmed to be terrible, but I want to say Grown-Ups 2. The only reason I bring up this god awful movie is that it did better than Pacific Rim on opening weekend. I don't know what pisses me off more. That it did better than Pacific Rim, or that it was the #2 movie that weekend.

the last time an american godzilla came out, she did taco bell commercials. now that a new one is coming out after 10 or so years, she should do commercials about reptile dysfunction.

I actually liked Grown-Ups 2. It was really Luke a sketch comedy, loosely tied together with what they called a plot. There was no story, but it was pretty funny. I watched it looking for a comedy, and that was what I got.

I still haven't gotten around to watching Sharknado but it seems as though the pop-culture references to it are staggering already,  so I think I need to watch it soon.

We've made too many compromises already, too many retreats. They invade our space, and we fall back. They assimilate entire worlds, and we fall back. Not again. The line must be drawn here! This far and no further!

Might as well since the LEGO movie seems to have done alright.

transformers 4 is walking a razor between brilliant insanity, and normal insanity. Trailer shows a two headed dragon, and a trex, and megatron was both of those at some point. a beast wars trilogy would be awesome

Is it just me or did they totally screw up the design of the Transformers this series? I just think they look like shit.

Also, why are humans even in it? Humans were always the worst when they tried to include them in Transformers.

It seems everything that won't be considered for an Oscar is just another big monsters and robots action flick.

Like the upcoming Godzilla.

I hope people get over it in time for the next Star Trek movie.

you need the humans to provide the story for the transformers to act as a metaphor for. godzilla movies were never about godzilla, they were always about nuclear testing or environmental destruction, or about some offense against the planet or space.

The good Transformers movie from the 80's had two humans, but the story was entirely about the robots. The humans were just kind of...there.
