Book spoilers about Bran's story, sorta. The show has mostly caught up at this point. But still, spoilers.
The universe is a cruel, uncaring void. The key to being happy isn't a search for meaning. It's to just keep yourself busy with unimportant nonsense, and eventually, you'll be dead.

I haven't seen the episode yet, but want to reply to Kaye's post.

How Tywin Lanister really made all that gold:

Silicon Valley should end on a better cliffhanger than this show on the same night. Although I am increasingly more interested in Silicon Valley than this show lately which makes watching GoT even worse waiting for Silicon Valley to air (especially since this is the first time I've ever watched it as it airs on TV).
I have read about how episode 4 ends which does sound very interesting to me though. I think it could get a lot better but it's starting to lose the magic it had on me.

So I still like this show, and I think it's more consistently "good" and "interesting" than it has been lately... But I don't know, ever since the end of last season I'm just not feeling as good about it.
What is it about it that has made it lose its appeal, in your opinion? I definitely think it has lost a little bit of its wow factor and while I'm pleased that they're getting ahead of the fact that they're going to beat the books I think they're moving a little too quickly. That in itself is doing a bit of damage to the show.

Basically that, and I don't know if I can trust on where they're heading.
But I think my mood has lightened up a bit. I did like the last episode quite a bit...even if it took me 3 days to watch it and I was more interested in getting Silicon Valley done.
I guess I'll have to wait and see. The lack of discussion here makes me think no one else is that excited either.

I've been having problems with this season. It seems like they've gotten lazy with the storytelling. Instead of cutting between different factions episodes seem to be split into broader sections (so 15 minutes with Cersei, 15 minutes with Tyrion, 15 minutes with Jon Snow and then 15 minutes with Arya). It just feels kind of lazy and emphasizes how disconnected the characters are.
Some of the subplots seem utterly pointless this season too. Nobody cares about Jaime in Dorne. I get that Brienne hates Stannis and that's why she's hanging around Winterfell (shit is going to go down), but it just seems pointless for her to spend a whole season sitting around so something dramatic can happen at the end.
It's starting to feel more like a conventional fantasy story in some places. Tyrion and Jaime's stories particularly. They're just guys on quests, it lacks the political intrigue.
Last episode was okay, but the one before it just felt like absolutely nothing had happened.

Yeah I'm with you there. It's also dragging on a whole lot. I don't feel like a lot has been accomplished. The Sand Snakes were INCREDIBLY disappointing as well. Lots of missed opportunity in Dorne, I think.

I'm in the process of catching up. I stopped watching after the first episode cuz of school work and I just finished the fifth episode. Not really thrilled with the number of changes they've made so far, but ignoring the big ones... is it just me, or have they really oversimplified a lot of the political intrigue that's going on? All the stuff with Cersei and the Martells sticks out to me the most.
