What format were you watching it on? Blu-Ray?/>It might have been due to a refresh rate higher than 60hz rather than the LED-ness of the screen. That always makes things look unnaturally smooth to me.
It is a very nicely shot show.

Maybe that's because it's the only thing I've ever watched it on?

Heeey it came back last night.
And I was finally allowed to watch the show!
I had watched the first episode forever ago with my girlfriend and she didn't much care for it and said I couldn't watch it...I don't think she was very serious but I didn't care enough to continue watching.
Then she got HBO for like a week and her and her siblings started watching it and she watched all the episodes in a matter of like 3 days. So now I am supposed to power through the show so we can start watching Season 3.

I'm gonna wait until the whole season is up before starting this. Week by week is far too slow.

So far I hate everyone and this show just pisses me off. In a good way though, I guess.

Yeah Ned Stark is best character in season 1 anyways

False. Tyrion Lannister.

I loved Tyrion Lannister the most in season 2 but I felt like season 1 was all about Ned Stark, I enjoyed his on screnyness.

Well so far I like Tyrion but I'm not IN like with him, but I'm sure I'll just grow to like like him more. Ned's cool, and so is the King. Disappointed that I know that he dies already, also find it so odd he's Mark Abby, considering I used to watch Still Standing and The Flinstones Las Vegas when I was a kid.
The whole Daenerys plot is boring so far. Her brother is an ass and Drogo is cool but boring. I wish Daenerys was a stronger female character like some of the others but she's not, at least so far. It pisses me off how quickly she just became Drogo's wife, I guess it kinda makes sense but whatever. The only good part about that whole thing is the Knight dude, who is cool, too bad he's in the worst part of the show so far.
I hate all of the Lannister's but Tyrion. The Prince is so ugh.
I love love love Arya. She's the most interesting character besides Tyrion, Ned, and the King so far. She's also the only really likable Stark too, besides Ned. Everyone else is boring or slightly annoying, I'm including Jon Snow in this too, although I do sympathize with him at times.

All of the Stark's suck except Arya who is awesome.
All of the Lannister's are awesome
Daenerys' plot and general character at so bad I wish I could download versions of the show that have her scenes edited out so you only hear about her second hand. Apparently Rob Stark's plotline is only explored through second-hand information in the book, and the show would be much better if he was dealt with like that too.
I do really like this show but I find it really confusing why the focus so much on some of the more boring and inconsequential characters like the Baratheons. More time should be spent with Littlefinger & Vaerys (Spider).
Also, I'm surprised VP hasn't gotten onto this show yet.

Huzzah! I was originally being stubborn and decided I wanted to read the books before watching the show, but that didn't happen. Spaz and I just finished the series so far in just a few days, and it is awesome indeed. I agree with a lot of the criticisms in this topic, though.
I disagree with Monkey in that I did like Daenerys in the first season, but her plotline in the second season was terrible. She just acted so weak, which seemed a complete contradiction compared to her self in season 1.
Tyrion is the best. I loved that his reasons for taking charge amounted to little more than, "Aw fuck it, somebody has to do it." And yeah, I guess he liked it a bit.
Arya is also the best.
Not much else to say. This has increased my chances of finally reading the books.
The universe is a cruel, uncaring void. The key to being happy isn't a search for meaning. It's to just keep yourself busy with unimportant nonsense, and eventually, you'll be dead.

Nah, you're not supposed to know what Petyr and Vaerys are up to, so it would just ruin it if they focused on them too much. As it is, the series already focuses extra time on them, so any more and I think it'd be difficult to keep them as mysterious as they're supposed to be. Whereas the stuff with the Baratheons is actually building up to something we should know about, so they're going to have to focus on them.

Okay, that all sounds reassuring and I take your point about those characters needing to remain in the background a bit.

It's a OK books series and Television show, just minus the fact brothers and sisters are (As Leggy would say) getting all, "Gigigigity."

I'm curious, have you read the books Kaye? Are you saying this based off of the books or just based on what makes most sense thematically?
I stopped watching a few days ago so I could focus on work/not stay up all night so I could go to work...just started and am up to the penultimate episode of season 1. I'll probably catch up by Sunday.
I think I'll at least get the audiobooks to listen on my commute. I very much enjoy this series despite all the characters I absolutely loathe and how much the show pisses me off sometimes. It's odd. It makes me mad but it's such a justified and good mad I can't really be mad. I don't even understand what I just said.
