Remember when watching TV was actually fun? You enjoyed waking up to watch Saturday morning cartoons! Breakfast was a normal thing.

These are all generalizations of course. And I'm solely basing this off of my younger self. However, I wish to know the shows you used to watch, and enjoyed, then with age realized how silly they were, but still loved them.

To list a few of my own:
~Rocko's Modern Life
~Cat-Dog
~Hey Arnold!
~The Wildthornberries
~Rugrats
~Ren and Stimpy

A few of these I look back and go, "Why did I even think this was entertaining?!" Others I wish were still on, and didn't have to pay to see them. How about yours?

Oh man, our group of friends always think back to such things, and even search the intros for fun (also in different languages because we can)

- Ren & Stimpy
- Two stupid dogs
- The Tick
- Eek the cat
- The terrible Thunder Lizards (part of Eek the Cat), fricking awesome =D
- Biker mice from mars
- Cow and Chicken
- Duck Tales
- Rescue Rangers, though you might now it under a different name (Chippendale chipmunks or something like that, dunno).
- Johnny Quest
- Darkwing Duck

and many more, our group is like a cartoon library. Ask DS, he can confirm XD

edit: notice how many of these cartoons have strange humor. maybe thats why i'm so crazy.

-Voltron
-The Real Adventures of Johnny Quest
-G Gundam
-ThunderCats
-Gargoyles
-TailSpin
-pretty much anything on Toonami in that two-hour block after school =D I lived my life around those two hours.

-Power Rangers (Mighty Morphing through Wild Force)

-Cat Dog
-Hey Arnold!
-Rugrats (when they were babies)
-most of the things mentioned so far

Though I now own all 5 seasons of the original Voltron and have been watching them with some friends up at school, and I now am the proud owner of season 1 of Johnny Quest. =)

Swat Kats was great. Just don't try to watch them now. I promise it will ruin the nostalgia. xP

Speaking of which: Power Rangers. Another one that I don't recommend revisiting but was cool back in the day.

I enjoy revisiting Power Rangers, though I do agree that it's lost some of its magic.

Swat Kats... I remember that show. :D I'll take your word.

Also...
-Care Bears
-My Little Pony
-Monster Rancher!!!

  • Scooby Doo Where Are You? (I used to get up at 5:30am to watch this in 3rd grade)

Remember the way the world used to look through Standard Definition with rabbit ears? I remember The Simpsons and other local stuff fondly when i download older tv shows. I remember when the Chicago Bulls were actually good for a few years, and watching them win games back in 1994 from my parent's old apartment in Skokie (just north of Chicago) and then either going to play hockey in the alley, or basketball at the park. Remember when TV used to look like This and like this? Stuff like this is what the whole world used to look like to me. back before dreams were just things to be woken up from. Now the whole world looks like this. this plastic stuff is so fake Now if a show isn't a total cash grab it's completely bereft of originality you're either left with cookie cutter versions of popular trends (cash grab exhibit b) or you have stuff that looks like a clone of a clone of an actually funny show. How often today are there shows that you can say you related to at one point or another? How many shows can be totally gross, but only if it doesn't go over your head? Are there even cartoons That capture and embody imagination or present a loosely cohesive narrative anymore?

Does anybody really remember the last time an animation had character? when you could watch something that hadn't been rubbed, scrubbed or sanitized? You can't. Because we've got nothing good left. You can't have an animated series with an interesting premise anymore, Otherwise you get cancelled, and things get busted down one more level towards the lowest common shitnominator

There aren't any. Nothing seems real anymore. How can I accept a reality where everything is polished to bullshit, when all I've known has been crudely drawn, crudelyhumored, and violent as all hell?this world just isn't real to me anymore when i turn on tv. the affirmation of my existence only comes through the fact that i remember what things used to be like. Nowadays, everything is about super HD picture, and it ruins the expectation of how much character something like a picture of a cat throwing up on a chihuaha can have.

Omg yes Freakazoid!
And Scooby Doo, regardless of how formulaic it was.
And I admit I used to record Digimon and rewatch it after it was over.
Same with Pokemon.
And Tenchi Muyo. I think I wacthed the first episode of that about 5 times in a row the first time it was on Toonami.

Still love the fourth season of Digimon~.
