Our lists are so similar.
I LIKE IT THOUGH BUT I GUESS IT'S BECAUSE IT'S ALMOST EXACTLY MY LIST TOO EXCEPT SHORTER.
Well, half of the albums on my list are by artists you've told me to listen to, so that'll happen.
And no, I don't think you can download things off of 8tracks. I can upload the tracks in a zip file somewhere else if anyone hates that.

I liked this! But it seemed to lack an overall flow, songs started to blur together for me. Good selections though.
I liked Little Dragon! Hadn't heard of her/them before. Other than that, it was a little restless for my tastes./>stupid slow internet took over an hour to upload this. I don't know about these being hidden 'gems' but here goes:

I've only listened to that record a couple of times. It wasn't really my thing. I did like that one song with the Rhinestone Eyes though. Like factories far away.../>How have you never heard of Little Dragon yet still listen to Plastic Beach?

For the first theme I propose a 10 track playlist that captures the sound of the 00s. In other words the 10 songs that you think will be associated with the 00s most in the future. Or if nobody likes that idea feel free to suggest a better one.

1. Gnarls Barkley - Go-Go Gadget Gospel (2:19)
2. Outkast - B.O.B. (5:04)
3. The White Stripes - Seven Nation Army (3:51)
4. Radiohead - Idioteque (5:09)
5. M.I.A. - Jimmy (3:29)
6. Gorillaz - Clint Eastwood (5:43)
7. Kanye West - Gold Digger (3:28)
8. Arcade Fire - No Cars Go (5:43)
9. Daft Punk - Digital Love (4:58)
10. Fiona Apple - Extraordinary Machine (3:44)
11. The Shins - New Slang (3:51)
12. The Postal Service - Such Great Heights (4:26)
It was kind of hard because the way you said it made it sound like more what history will see it as and less what I will remember it has (thus, no Decemberists or of Montreal, which is what I would remember), or what was particularly popular during the time and will be forgotten later.
So when I think about what the 00s will mostly represent in the future, I think it'll be about the rise of electronica and "indie" music., as well as more experimental hip hop. So I tried my best to represent that without getting personal taste mixed into it too much. Things like B.O.B. or Gold Digger or even Seven Nation Army, I may have not chosen if it was based on my personal taste (Especially since I think all three artists all have way better songs), but they're also songs I remember hearing way too much of during the 00s and I find to be synonymous with the era. I chose them not just because they were popular, but I think all three of them are songs that have already proven that they are still popular years past their release, as well as the artists that produced them.
My taste kind of spills over in the other songs. Particularly Go Go Gadget Gospel, Jimmy, Digital Love, and Idioteque, probably not what either band will be remembered for, but I just love them too much not to put them there. But I know that the artists will be remembered.

This is great you've gotten the idea of what I was trying to suggest perfectly despite my poor phrasing of it. I have slow interwebs here so I'm downloading it now and will listen later./>I know it's more than 10 songs but oh well. It was going to be 11 but that wasn't an even number so I made it one.

I have a list of eleven songs I'm playing with at the moment. I want to try and sequence them to be a cohesive whole.

It's interesting that unconsciously I have selected many of the same artists as Monkeydog but haven't actually picked any of the same songs. I was struggling for a 10th track and so I looked at his list and realized I'd forgotten that Daft Punk was the 00s. The other artists we share are Outkast, Gnarls Barkley and Gorillaz. For a long time I also had Paper Planes by M.I.A but in the end I decided that it didn't really sound like your "typical" pop track from the 00s and I didn't like it that much anyways.
More people should be in on this!

Listened to this the other week and again today. I really like the overall flow and feel of it. It's something I haven't been able to do quite so well. Even things like Seven Nation Army into Idioteque which I thought would be terrible from reading it actually worked quite well. It's frustrating how differently tracks are mastered through the 00s though, some songs are always going to be louder than others it seems./>1. Gnarls Barkley - Go-Go Gadget Gospel (2:19)

No, crossfades are for girls. I like to keep it raw./>Why thank you. Do you use crossfades?
Oh god I know it's horrible, why do people think louder == better?
Obviously there are cases (such as the superb ambient dissonance at the end of Idioteque that cuts off) where it would be beneficial - but generally I like the respite between tracks. Also a lot of the albums I listen to have been mixed to already have crossfades or whatever and I don't want to disrupt that.

I am going to suggest one:
Songs You Love That Don't Say a Word
aka songs that mean something to you without any "lyrics".
