I threw together another one (if only I spent this much effort finding new music...). Nothing gimmicky this time. Just a short list of songs that I feel, like my last compilation, just didn't generate enough attention. :)
Maurissa Tancharoen and Jed Whedon - Remains
Blue Horizon - Cocoon (Acoustic)
Conjure One - Extraordinary Way
David Ford - I'm Alright Now
Faunts - Input
First Aid Kit - I Met Up With The King
Kate Walsh - Seafarer (Acoustic)
Paucity - Homebow

And yeah. I'll get around to your other ones, Vicious. Probably not until Monday or Tuesday night though since that's my main free time.

I enjoyed Invince's new compilation today. First Aid Kit finally won me over and Faunts turned out to be competely different to what I'd thought they were in a good way. A couple of songs grated a little. I couldn't get into David Ford, who seemed a bit over the top and cheesy, and I couldn't get into Conjure One which just seemed a bit tacky and formulaic. Nice flow throughout though and it was good to hear some quasi-local music from Invince with Paucity.
I have another compilation completed, I'm just trying to come up with a witty name for it.

Some highgrade retro funk shizzle going on here. A really fun mix. I'm familiar with most of the tracks from old disco movies from the 70s and 80s and it was kind of surreal hearing them outside of that context. One gripe I have though is that you've opted for extended versions of most of the tracks, which makes them kind of drag. And it makes the playlist run for nearly an hour and a half, which is a big commitment.yay!

Weird. From your description my immediate thought was interference from your wireless card. But you say you removed your wireless and it still crackles?I'll be getting around to more listening soon, right now I'm trying to figure out why my computer doesn't want to play music like I know it can.
I'm also running a 4gb Windows 7 64-bit setup and I've not had any memory related problems with sound.
My best guess would be the audio drivers you've installed. Did you install the drivers on the mobo driver disc? Or did you just install windows and use whatever drivers it came up with? The drivers on the disc may have been optimized for 32-bit.
Other than that, I'm not sure what to suggest.
(Also, DJ_Beardsquirt - In McDonalds should be uploaded in half an hour or so).

For the sound card, i've tried both the manufacturer's latest drivers, as well as a unnofficial support pack linked to in another post on that forum. None of them seem to make any difference.
Currently I'm listening with WMP and I don't seem to be having any issues... I tried installing an older version of winamp, and there were crackles right away. It was disappointing. I don't want to give up winamp :(...

Whereas my last playlist was quite wintery, this is more indicative of what I was listening to over the summer. Many, many pretentious sunrise conversations about the significance of "the beat" and "psychoacoustics" at dodgey local raves contributed to the shaping of this playlist. Hopefully there are one or two tracks you can tap your feet to.

Delusion Imagery-
Beyond Here Lies Nothing- Jazzy to start, which I'm honestly not a fan of, but I can deal. They guy's voice is gross, but somehow it works for the song.
Wanderer- Nice ambience, but not much music to it yet, and guy's voice in insufficient to be considered mellifluous. Didn't miss this one terribly much though.
I'll Fly Away- Cool, a country song. What's next, Rap? Regrettably, I'm not finding not much to like about this- the... banjo? I don't know, is just there and that's it. Good playing, but I don't like the sound. The voices- the harmony sounds off to me, and the tune isn't even that pleasing. *rants for another hour probably just because the country-ish tones gave him a bad impression*
Pilgrimage- And in a stark contrast, I am really liking the sound of this one. The industrial background provides a mechanical rhythm within itself contracted to the soothing choral vocals and to top it off a a refreshing piano plays a very nice melody. The beat kicks in and is just as agreeable, withits own ambience and piano riffs joining in... And over all, I just really really like this one. Anyway, I'm keeping this song; thanks. >.>;
Instant Karma!- Mixed feelings about the song, not really liking nor disliking the style (there isn't a whole lot of original composition to it...) but towards the end it does have good energy, so I can respect that I guess.
Hard Believer- Oh, look, titular lyrics. And a good thing the vocals are so clear on this otherwise, I'd never have heard them. Again, not impressed on the musical scale, but
There there- Nice beat. Nice incoming riff. and then I can't understand a thing the vocalist says, but I don't care -that- much about that. ...Random drum fill was neat but disappointing in that I was expecting something new and explosive afterwards. Like what happens after (what i am assuming was) the break. Much more intense. The distortion solo on the guitar wasn't that pretty though. Over all approve.
Art of Dying- Reminds me, by the title, of Emilie Autumn's the art of suicide, but the first second of the song quickly dashes my hopes that they might be even vaguely similar thematically or stylistically (given that I love Emilie Autumn and basically all of her work). Still, I don't dislike this. It's tappable too. Tappity tippy taptap.
St Peter- Relaxing, until I started paying attention to the lyrics- also don't really like the guy's voice, surprise! I don't have much to say about this though.
Enjoy the struggle- So I clicked this, started talking, and the song had finished before I had even realized it started. Not very attention grabbing... On the second listen, it certainly is somber... I certainly don't mind the guitar part. And then it's done... the last sounds echoing in my own head. Funny how songs do that.
----
New-
Remains- Soothing and yet rhythmic. Something I can actually say I like the vocals on. while the music isn't ground breaking, I'm in no way aversed to it, so overall approve, and little more.
Cocoon- Not impressed with this song, except for the bits with the violin. I love the violin. In this song, it's very attention grabbing and generally pleasant, but I do mean over all in that violin is my favorite instrument, and I feel strongly in that this song could benefit from more of it. >.>; I am curious to hear the wired version though.
Extraordinary Way- A unique start. It has my attention completely, just waiting to see how they use it. I am disapppoint that the background goes into something "trippier" rather than the gothic direction it could have gone, but I still like the song.
I'm Alright Now- So I'm hearing the lyrics in this one and connecting with them for once in my life. Which, judging by their content, at least from the verse I was paying attention to, is not necessarily a good. And yet, this song itself reminds me of something else... Can't place it... I wanna say Piano Man? I'm not sure if that's right. If it is right, though, it's highly, highly reminiscent.
Input- Liking the intro to this one, can't barely hear the vocals though... Unfortunately, I don't think it really develops on that enough... I was waitng for more the whole time and then the song ended. If that was a metaphor for life, I'd be really depressed right about now.
I Met Up With The King- Standard, standard, not really caring about it, but at times the vocals are a bit off.... and in one elongated note she flat out goes into a growl underneath the other voice... and it's kinda bad. Also not a fan of the ending. But whatever~
Seafarer- This is kinda like the last in that it's acoustic and female vocals that I hear but do not strike me as in any way impressive... So I continue on with my work, allowing this to be little more than background noise.
Hombow- Homeboy? What? Another soft acoustic and rhythmic start, but this one feels like it has more potential. Will it use it?
And it is using it damn well. 3/4s through the song, it recaptures my attention- up until the blaring guitar comes in again, and even that gets a little better. Major points for the rhythm though, less the melody, if the guitar can be said as having one. At least there's one at the end, if it doesn't seem to fit the rest of the song. Still passably neat, though.
And now in accordance with my last post, I'm going to go watch Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist.
I'll get to the last two compilations- well, I won't set a day this time, considering how well that worked out before.

You are so wrong! Or at least I disagree. That one harmony makes the entire song, it's the focal point of all the tension that's been accumulated from the interesting guitar chords that don't quite resolve themselves properly. I was actually blown away by that one long note and it made me start to think there's more to First Aid Kit than being just a twee scandinavian folk duo.I Met Up With The King - at times the vocals are a bit off.... and in one elongated note she flat out goes into a growl underneath the other voice... and it's kinda bad.

Admittedly, I haven't really discovered a ton of music this year, so don't expect to find any huge musical revelations. In fact, I know Bean doesn't care for a few of these tracks already. BUT WHATEVER I MADE A COMPILATION.
Actually, I just realized I haven't really listened to any of your guys' playlists. I will fix this tonight.

I LIKE IT THOUGH BUT I GUESS IT'S BECAUSE IT'S ALMOST EXACTLY MY LIST TOO EXCEPT SHORTER.
I'm doing something similar. Kinda:

Just I'm not finished. I have like 50 tracks (and then I added 6 tracks from Scott Pilgrim related things). So far I've put up 32 of the 50ish(it may get bigger if I remember stuff. I'll probably finish by the end of the week. It's in really no order, and I tried not to pick from the same artist...or at least same album. I think the only artists who show up/will show up twice are Sufjan and The Tallest Man on Earth.
