Stayed up later than I should have last night and finished Cold Days. That's the last of my Dresden books for now since the next in the series isn't out yet.

Lesse, next up will be...Yahtzee's second book, Jam.

I don't know why I don't post here. In the past month I've finished reading Shadow Puppets, Shadow of the Giant, and Boston Jacky.

I'm now reading On Stranger Tides.

Just finished Love's Ripening by Rumi. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves poetry. I'm not a big fan of poetry, myself but this was quite good. It was full of wisdom on the nature of love. I also learned quite a bit about Islam. Rumi sure seems to be a fan of the man from Nazareth.

I'm now reading Ron Paul: Father of the Tea Party (before the Tea Party was hijacked that is). It seems to be a relatively quick read so far. I plan on reading The Archaeology of Knowledge next, a recommendation of Bean. I'm slowly creeping through H.P. Lovecraft's Complete Fiction on the side.

EDIT: It's by Jason Rink, by the way.

We've made too many compromises already, too many retreats. They invade our space, and we fall back. They assimilate entire worlds, and we fall back. Not again. The line must be drawn here! This far and no further!

Still making my way through Jam, but I took another MLP comic break since the second compilation came out yesterday. This arc is about the return of the nightmare forces from the moon. I kind of hope they adapt these comics into movies...though it seems unlikely to ever happen.

Finished Jam earlier today. It was very silly.

Also started - and finished - Twilight Sparkle and the Crystal Heart Spell. It was also kind of silly, though in a very different way.

Haven't yet decided what to read next.

Just finished Ron Paul by Jason Rink. Twas pretty damn good! I wish it would have come out when he retired though. That way it would have covered the exciting things that happened later. Either way, it was great. I wouldn't recommend it to you people unless you are pretty familiar with Ron Paul or you want to learn about him. 9/10

I'm pretty stoked to start The Archaeology of Knowledge. I probably won't get to start until Tuesday due to being busy with school.

I'm giving The Lightning Thief a second go. I opted to start it over from the beginning since I last tried to read it almost exactly 2 years ago, and I hadn't gotten very far before other books distracted me. I am now one chapter farther than my previous stopping point.

So, I've decided to stop reading The Archaeology of Knowledge by Michel Foucault. I have literally never done this before in my life. I can't continue to read this book because it is the 2nd worst book I have ever read. It annoys the Hell out of me. From what I have read (The first 3 parts of its 5) it is full of needless sophistry and common sense mixed in with complete rubbish. Read this book if you want to have a horrible time and learn nothing. 1/10

EDIT: I've also decided to allocate all my reading time to continuing HP Lovecraft's Complete Fiction for the time being.

What in particular offended you about Archeology of knowledge? I'm just curious because I've only read certain passages and a lot of the rest I filled in from stuff from seminars and lectures.

It tried to "define" how to look at information. The outline that it offered was really just over complicating the process. It categorized everything down to the smallest of differences. Much of it was restating things that I already know or do and I would assume others do as well. I did find one slightly redeeming factor. He hinted at everything being interconnected. I believe that on a personal level.

His model is not meant to be prescriptive, but it does offer a hell of a toolbox in political theory and gives you powerful means to deconstruct truth statements.

Defining truth is a bit of a contentious issue in contemporary social theory.

And yeah, he csn be a bit of a tough read - he's very French in his approach.

The vast majority of it was stuff I already do and I hate hate hate reading things that I already know. It seems like such a waste of time to me.

In other news, I was a little tipsy the other night and ordered a bunch of books. I don't remember what I bought, but the first of it came today: A Foreign Policy of Freedom by Ron Paul. At the moment I am reading through Liberty Defined by Ron Paul. By the way, if anyone would like a crash course in libertarianism, READ THIS! I was surprised how good it is. It addresses, alphabetically, every subject jeopardizing the United States. That's 50 issues. So far, it's rivaling the quality of The Revolution: A Manifesto. Good stuff!

I started reading Swarmwise by Rick Falkvinge it was surprisingly terrible. I don't think I'll finish it. It's put me off the whole Pirate Party.

Been rereading bits of Homestuck off and on, finding references to things that happen much later that I had completely forgotten about.

Also about 2/3 through The Lightning Thief. It's been getting better the farther I read, which is always nice. I'm pretty sure I've figured out who the actual bad guy is, but I'm still wondering what's up with the guy who's being presented as the villain but probably isn't.

Just finished Liberty Defined by Ron Paul. 10/10 Excellent excellent! It's arranged oddly. It sort of serves as a relatively abridged encyclopedia of Ron Paul's wisdom complete with multitudes of citations. Now for more HP Lovecraft The Complete Fiction.
