Also, I went GB-->GBC--->GBA--->SP--->DSphat (lost it)---> DS lite

About the same for me, minus the SP, and I traded my Phat for a Lite.

There are some games I like that couldn't have been done as well or at all without the touch screen. Ouendan/EBA comes to mind as a prime example.

...and I traded my Phat for a Lite.

Outrageous! I still have my DS phat from 04, and the stylus (somehow never lost that). Needless to say, I don't usually upgrade to the new models of things... Though I did in the case of GBA SP, which I still use for GB/C games, and advance games when I don't feel like using my DS for them. It also uses the same charger as the DS, double bonus.

In the case of the 3DS, I will definitely be waiting to upgrade. Waiting until prices drop, that is. (Or hell, the next model, considering how often Nintendo releases these things)

My path was GBC -> GBA -> DS Lite.

My GameBoy Color mysteriously disappeared one day, way before I got the GBA. I still have no idea what happened to it. The same with a bag of GBC games that I lost at an entirely different time. Maybe I'll find it one day when we actually clean the house from top to bottom. XD

I still have my GBA, and I still use it to play games (though these days I mostly use it to play Crystal Chronicles on the Gamecube with my friends). I still think it had the best line of RPGs.

The DS Lite was the first handheld I liked the look of after the GBA. I didn't get any of the others because I didn't like the look of them (though I'll admit to liking the Micro's picture, before I actually saw it in the store).

The more I think about it, I've decided that I might actually consider getting the 3DS depending on how it looks/feels, if only because I do still have my GBA and I wouldn't trade in my DS Lite, so I'd still have that too. And the only reason that factors at all is because my DS Lite's L button doesn't work anymore... luckily I've found ways around most of the games that require the L button for things, but it's still annoying. :(

Well, I'll probably get a 3DS 3 or 4 years after its release, since that's how good I am at staying on top of gaming trends (there are few hobbies as expensive as gaming is), or at least until whatever obligatory smaller version of it comes out first.

Although I did have a gameboy AND a gameboy color. I still have a phat DS, and I actually still kind of like the bulkiness. The screens just aren't as sharp or colorful as the Lite for whatever reason. Also, my brother broke the top screen, so it's basically a more expensive Gameboy Advance at this point. Probably the only reason I have a DS Lite now.

Hah, same happened to me, except it was my sister who broke it. I'm thinking about getting a DSi XL, but they're too expensive.

The DSi XL actually looks really attractive to me. I've been saying that they should be making these screens larger for years. Only thing is I don't think it's quite as easy to homebrew on the DSi, so it's lite for now.

Once they crack it it will be way easier though, with that SD slot and all... I want a DSi XL, but I can't really afford it. =(

I for one AM buying it.

I wanna watch all my movies in 3D, take my pictures in 3D, and play games that look has good has they did on the ps2 (Metal Gear solid: Peace walker)
But that's just me, i like the 3D, it works for me (sorry Billy) and cant wait for star fox in it.

Has for comfort, i have huge hands and have never noticed a problem on any iteration of the DS, and Nintendo has made the screens slightly bigger.

My only concern : Freaking battery life, how will that 3d rape my battery?

I've kind of wondered that too, the battery life. Also the price. Argh.

The 3D effects don't significantly impact the battery life, supposedly.

Price is another matter entirely, but at least it won't require expensive (and uncomfortable) glasses.

Forgot about this thread... I can only hope the 3DS is as big as the DSiXL because man... Nintendo hasn't made a handheld this comfortable since the Classic DS.

Picked mine up at midnight. Woulda wrote something sooner, but work... Anyway: I didn't buy any games since I'm broke, no launch games looked interesting, and I still got Black to interest me. So far it seems great. The larger size feels good, and I like the weight. The screen is larger than a DS and upscales the images, or you can launch it at its original resolution if you want. The face buttons are all clicky, if you know what I mean. I like that, I always like my phat for its clicky d-pad. Oh, the circle pad feels great. It has like a thin rubber layer or something on it that makes for a nice grip. The Select/Home/Start buttons are interesting because they feel inset and mushy (As opposed to clicky) when you press them. The 3D works great. It feels quite natural though I've just toyed with the AR games and Face Raiders of course. I just want a good game to come out now T.T

I played around with one the other day. I was a bit disappointed with the 3D. Things got awfully blurry which made my eyes feel quite tired in the 5-10 minutes I played. I kept adjusting the depth thingy to try and find the right setting but it wasn't really sensitive enough. I ended up turning the 3D off so I could focus on finding out whether the new Super Monkey Ball is anything interesting.

Yeah that is a concern since some video games tend to strain my eyes as it is, and 3D in theaters makes my brain parts hurt. Haven't had one of these in my hands yet, though.
