Here's a picture of me and three members of my running team.

 

We ran a relay around Lake Winnipesaukee in NH today. This picture was taken after the 4th leg of the race (there were 8 legs, and the 4th leg was mine, that's why I'm sitting.)

I'm not sure how much damage you did to those hinges, but if it wasn't too much, you can talk to a chinese guy on ebay and get a replacement screen for pretty cheap.

no damage at all. what you're seeing on the hinges is the two parts of the WiFi antenna, which is normally housed in the monitor casing. I've considered doing that, but honestly that laptop is seriously underpowered (1.7 GHz Intel core duo (not a core 2 duo, mind you) and only a gig of ram).

I wasn't considering a media server at first, because frankly I just don't have that much media on my computers other than music and a handful of pictures, but after giving it some thought it might be a good way to clear up some hard drive space on my gaming PC (that 256gb SSD fills up pretty quickly with all them games).
