I joined here, then never came because my the site never sent me a confirmation E-Mail. Then I checked it yesterday, and it turns out I was already accepted... Anyway, I don't know people here, I feel like a newfag ._.

"Tournament"-style Brawl players are stupid. Why would you ban almost every character, stage, and all items? It makes no sense. Just because people don't know how to actually play the game.

Yeah, I'm not too much into the tournament scene - I just work for the advancement of the game. It took like a year but we're finally adding new characters now :D Its fantastic.

Heh, that Waluigi hack looks pretty good but it could use some work. And it's a shame that you can't see the cpu level on the meta knight, but it was obviously in the lower half of the 9 levels. I've played a hacked Brawl with Zero that's pretty damn good. It takes the place of Link (sadly) but it's pretty good, even if his forward dash move is kinda broken.

But if you could make a quality Isaac hack, I would bow down and even claim that you're better than me at Brawl. It's probably not true, but I'll say it anyways. ;)

I'm not really interested in the psa hacks like Zero, which is just a link mod, I want the full new characters :D

Waluigi is still in development, his dash has been fixed since that video and we're just waiting until we can get the bone structures of the models to stop freezing the game for whatever reason they do.

Isaac is being done too. I saw it recently, it was pretty nice but glitchy. Knuckle Joe and Primid are also being done. I was going to voice isaac myself once the hack gets finished but i dunno if we're still gonna do that anymore. We've been doing otns of stuff though. I tried to get lyn in but her right arm, sword arm, has problems because the model bone of that arm is actually attached to her foot rather then her shoulder (dont ask me why i dont know what the hell nintendo was thinking) - and so when you make her playable her right arm hovers over her head and behind her neck - its weird.

Other things have been pretty sweet so far though

<3 Brawl+ But I haven't played it since college =/, and never onlines because the internet is scary.

Also, Ryo, do you work with the Brawl+ people or are you separate from that project? How does making new characters and stages work? Last I read (quite a few months ago) they were trying to just get costume + stat changes, but using the current character models. But I haven't really kept up with it much.

Though I don't support B+ mostly, I do have to correct you on this. B+ is not trying to make Melee 2.0 / Originally, yes, they tried to make it as close as they could to melee but that ended in failure so they moved on towards an updated more speedy competitive Brawl. B+ is not Melee 2.0 and will never be.

Nah, I don't work in the B+ backroom - I'm not a fan of changing a game's mechanics just to suit the few people who still believe that the game needs "combos" to be any good. I don't really think that upping the hitstun in the game just so that you can practically 0-kill someone with almost every character is necessary to make the game more competitive. Changing the game from "beat your opponent" to "try not to get hit" didn't really appeal to me.

Though B+ does have its strong points - one of them (my favorite) being the aerial momentum booster that allows you to jump forward in the air at the same speed you were running. That was a stroke of genius.


Nah, I just work for making the original game better - expansion packs more then anything.

Advanced Brawl, i will call it, will be the first expansion pack where we add characters and stages to the roster without switching up the mechanics of the game. It will be sweet :)

We've got a total list of about 160 characters that are "most wanted" to appear in the game. then after that who knows what will happen. I'm sure the first exp pack won't have that many characters in it, maybe 20 new ones.



Yeah Blu, the old stuff was just textures and what have you but now we can model swap and all sorts of lulzy stuff. Textures and Custom music are now very normal in the brawl hax scene :)

I completely agree; the hitstun was the only thing all my roommates complained about, so we turned it off. I liked it at first because Ness' UAir + giant hitstun is insane, but overall it was rather annoying. I always liked the minor things about Brawl+, like Ness' bat sound being reverted to the old homerun sound, and the ability to change the default rules.

Super Mario Series

Dr. Mario: Do you think its really necessary to have a Mario clone with only a simple costume makeover and pills instead of fireballs? The difference really wouldn't be that big considering Brawl Mario is kind of a mixture of Melee Mario and Melee Doc Mario.
Paper Mario: Hammer - Should we give him the ability to fly? Turning into a paper airplane was a big thing in those games right?
Luigi
Paper Luigi: Similar to paper Mario
Ghostbuster Luigi: Unlike Doc Mario, this version of Luigi could have a huge moveset difference as opposed to original Luigi. The use of his Poltergust 3000 would prove effective as a projectile and give him an interesting series of moves since it has vaccume, ice and fire powers.
Peach
Paper Peach: I'm not personally too hyped about this one. I love Princess Peach but I don't see this one having much of a moveset mod. However, just playing a paper version of regular peach's moveset I guess could be kinda cool considering how much of a different Toonlink has from Link with his floaty jumps and weird speed. Glide throwing little paper turnips would be ^.^
Super Peach: I could totally see this being done. Using her umbrella like a sword, elemental attacks, get rid of her float and just give her a natural downward umbrella fall like in the Super Princess Peach game... This could be a well rounded character.

Paper Bowser: Like paper Peach, I don't see much of a difference from the original Bowser and paper versions. Different speed and jump and such but that's about it.
Bowser JR.: JR seems to be more of a cross between Yoshi and Bowser rather then a Bowser clone. Giving him better jump and some aerial maneuverability similar to wario would suit him.

Geno: I never played Super Mario RPG myself, but from what I gather Geno has an extensive series of moves that could easily define him

Waluigi: The taller, lankier version of wario with better reach. Since he's never been a main character in a game (but rather a fill in for party games) I don't know what we could do with him except give him some features similar to wario then give him random weapons like tennis racket... Possibly give him his waluigi Kart as a move???

Dixie Kong: Obviously Dixie's defining feature is her hair. Using her hair as a propeller while you fall would be essential to making her be releant to her character. Using her hair could be her primary weapon of choice for long reach attacks, grabs and possibly a tether recovery.
King K. Rool: He needs his boomerang crown and his cannon. Giving him a good bit of weight would make him harder to KO while keeping him slow and generally bowser like only with better projectiles.

Toon Zelda: Like toon link, I doubt there would be much transition between zelda and toon zelda besides speed, jump and all around uneven physics.

Toon Sheik / Tetra: Personally, since we didn't see a toon sheik in Wind Waker, I think it'd be cool if TZelda could turn into Tetra rather then TSheik. That way she could have a completley original moveset rather then just another clone. This list will get pretty big and the less clones the better.
Ganondorf
Toon Ganon: Dual swords and awesome aerial seems to be his style but I don't know what else we could give him.
Wolf Link (Midna Riding): This would be quite original. Give him good attacks as his wolf, then give Midna the ability to use her hair as a ranged attack, grab and even tether recovery. It would probably be smart to use Wlink's Charge B move from TP as his B or Down B move in Brawl.
Midna (Princess Form): Would probably be similar to zelda but we could probably give her a decently original moveset?
Zant: I hardly remeber what Zant even did in TP because that battle was so short >.<
Vaati: Ah, the wind mage - He pretty much has a moveset laid out for him from the minish cap games and the four swords series. His final smash could easily be that cloud monster form.

Duster: Wall spikes and theif tricks. It'd be cool

The Black Knight: I've been thinking this one over. Give him a ranged slice attack like in the game but that's about all I can think of other then making him slow. I did think it'd be an interesting idea to give him like double the weight of Wario in order to keep him grounded and make him something of a brick wall - but give him no recovery move in order to make up for that fact.
Sothe: FE Character who weilds daggers as his weapons. He could play a bit like sheik but his attacks could do a bit more damage (without all the tilt capability).

Tales: Hes gotta be able to fly. An upB special similar to Pit would be appropriate. I cant be sure what else to do with him.

Tales of Symphonia Series
Lloyd Erving: Deciding which moves to make up a 5 move set for a character like this is really hard since he's got so so many moves available in the game. Demon fang seems to be obvious but other then that I'm not sure what to throw into his moveset.
Kratos: Double Demon Fang seems appropriate for his B move since he practically started with that move in his set. Besides that I can't be sure what to say.
Sheena: Her series of Card moves all seem appropriate
Emil: I'm more familiar with Emil now that i've recently played this game. Demon fang seems the obvious choice for him (and most characters out of the Tale series it seems): Some of his other attacks would be good. I'd like to see his Mystic Arte as his Final Smash. It's like Link's but cooler and ends with an Ike styled downward great aether strike + explosion. Emil's most defining feature as a character was that he combo's like a ***** in the air.
Marta: Her spinner could be a projectile. Maybe some of her "swallow" artes + photon would suit her.
Richter: Sword and Axe wielder with a good series of thrust attacks

No More Heroes Series
Travis Touchdown: His body slams are an absolute must so his Grab would have to be that. Other then that I think travis's biggest defining feature is his ability to combo or his ability to counter+combo / His charged attacks should be definite. Also I think having his sword charge in his moveset somewhere would be appropriate; even if its only his taunt.

Animal Crossing Boy/Girl: Using a series of tools found around the AC kingdom would be the best bet. Fishing rod, shovel, net, sling shot, axe
Mii (Nintendo Mii Channel): No clue what you would do with this one but it should be in there somehow

Saki (Sin and Punishment): His assist trophy moveset pretty much tells it all. A gun, an awesome sword, and some serious jump skills.
Ray MK II (Custom Robo)
Amaterasu (Okami): It would be similar to wolf link but using that sun disc on its back to attack should be part of the moveset. I'm not sure how using the paintbrush could be accomplished. Probably just a series of seemingly telekenetic attacks where a paintbrush appears out of nowhere and does the attacks upon button inputs.
Rygar (Battle of Argus): I doubt anyone would bother wtih this one but he has that style kind of like that "god of war" character. His long chain with a bladed disc in the end would be quite the original weapon.
Pac-Man: I still don't know why people want him in the game

Use Force for an attacking move instead of Move? And I'm thinking Odyssey would make a good final smash, similar to link's.

Megaman series: you need protoman in there too. for serious geyz.


Animal Crossing character- I'd pretty much thought out nearly entire move set for him/her before. forward smash is like peach's, random tool is used to smash opponents- shovel, axe, net (doesn't do much). B is a hold to charge sling shot attack. down+B makes him plant a pitfall (the way snake does a down smash mine, and like snakes mine, only one at a time). or down B diggs up fossils and gyroids to toss at people. Grab with the fishing pole, like link's hookshot. Up smash is a straight up poke with the umbrella. Perhaps third jump could utilize the umbrella the way peach does. lots of silly potential with this character.

Make a Blastoise. you could probably copy paste bowser then start editing. Either make hydro pump, neutral B charge, a much stronger shove than water gun or let it deal damage straight up. Up B as rapid spin, more mobile than Bowser's up B. forward B like squirtle's, or a chargeable stage roller (down B) like sonic or yoshi in place of up B rapid spin. in which case up B can be a hydro cannon jump, similar to diddy's barrels, but immediate and no helplessness. i could see forward B being a tackle/skullbash like the pokedex says it can, use the cannons to boost it forward and bash things, similar to falcon/wizard kick. Up smash is a single, big geyser version of squirtle's. Down smash is the same, but scaled to size and power. I also feel like mirror coat might fit in somewhere... oh well.
