Has anybody here read any of Jim Butcher's Dresden Files series (Storm Front, Fool Moon, etc.)?
When I was at Borders today, I randomly picked one up off the shelf and read the blurb on the back. I didn't end up buying it, but the concept (a modern day P.I. who is also a wizard) intrigued me, probably due to a similar story that we workshopped in my creative writing class last week. Before I decide to get any of the books, I wanted to get some opinions from people who have read them before.

Wow, this made me laugh. I was reading through some peer comments on a short story I wrote for school, and someone said one of my characters seems "Dresden Files style." I hope that's a good thing.

I'll probably still check the first one out at my library since I remembered that you can do that after I made this topic. =p

yeah it was in sci-fi, it only ran 1 season and was pretty inconclusive but it was good and i wish they'd continue it....

Bit of a necro-post, but the Lit forum is slow, so whatever.
Finally got the first book from the library and have read about a quarter of it. My opinion so far is that the writing is technically a bit dodgy at times, but it makes me laugh out loud often enough that I can forgive it. One small aside that I find harder to overlook, though, is mention of one of the characters having trophies from aikido tournaments. Aikido tournaments do not exist, and if they do, they're not supposed to.
But yeah, I'm enjoying the book in general.
