Well
A) In this part of the world we spell it Weezer.

B) Since the beginning of this thread it's been Artist - Track. rekaru is just using colons for some reason.

Hmm... I've been doing it backwards then, as it's more natural to say the songs name and then who it's by. Or at least it is in this part of the world.

This part of the world also apologizes for the typo of the typo. Because the correct spelling is wrong.

ONLY if you use the word by.

Almost everything would list a song Artist, track.

My itunes doesn't. =P
I know most people search their ipods (/other mp3s) by artist, but I do mine by playlist and song titles.

And I figure the song is the most important bit of info to present first. It's the individual song followed by the particular artist that did it. The song is like the first name, and the artist is like the last name. The individual is name first followed by the family name, the artist to which you could contribute any number of songs to. It's more descriptively important to say the Island in the Sun song as compared to that Weezer song. Like dude, which one?

Do you get what I'm trying to say here?

Yes, but iTunes, is the devil and you should be banished for admitting you even use it. And an iPod? Blegh.

It's just proper tagging to do Artist then Song. Almost every media player does it. We aren't user proper English here, we're just listing something.

And, really, you could argue that the band is the first name, since the band is, in a way, the most important part. I could easily put something like, Knockin' on Heavens Door or All Along the Watchtower and it wouldn't explain who is performing them. Since it reality they're Dylan songs, but he's not the most famous artist to play said songs.

But like I said, it's improper tagging etiquette to go song then artist. It probably isn't the way one would say it, but we're not saying anything in this topic. More of a list.

Yes, but the order of the information communicated still bothers the hell out of me. Cuz order is more important in english than that it is in other languages.

And yes, there are covers of songs. But you still know the song, if not the particular artist yet, which is then logically followed by the artist.

Maybe its just me, who is a fan of individual songs first, before becoming a fan of the band if that band has enough good songs.

Yeah, but it's still improper. If you did that one something like what or waffles you'd be in trouble. It stems from the idea, I believe, that the hierarchy of organization of tracks comes from.

Band ---> Album ---> Song.
You don't organize things by song, that'd just be stupid.

Anywho:

Not really. You just don't think the way I do.

As for myself I organize it by song. For one thing, there's usually only one or two songs per band. I get songs I like, not whole albums. For another, when I listen to songs or think of them, I think of 'em by the name first. And if I wanted to listen to a bunch of songs by an artist, I'd go by album. Otherwise, I like that variety of listing 'em by song names.
