Velveteen, from Ghost in the Shell: SAC
on a side note, it's amazing to hear how much better so many songs are on rockband compared to their original release recordings. (ex, nine in the afternoon, Snow (hey oh), wonderwall)

Those songs all suck on Rock Band. Quality of Rock Band recordings are crud, and the songs themselves are just boring to play in the first place. Although, it all really matters on WHAT they're being played out of. If you honestly have a better sound system for Rock Band than playing music...then maybe does sound better. However, they are in no way actually better. At all.

Yeah, I had use of my old roommate's sound system. It was awesome. I heard things in Right Where it Belongs (NiN) that was completely indistinguishable from a normal car stereo. I kinda wish I was still living there....wut?

While I don't care that you don't like 'em cuz those songs are way better for vocals than for your simulated guitar playing... If you've ever looked up some of those songs on itunes and listened to the original recordings that were out for sale/radio, then you notice a huge difference. The re-recordings after all their current professional experience (and probably access to better recording/editing equipment), quite a few of 'em sound better. Some are the same though.
Break My Stride- Matthew Wilder. Definitely one of my favorite songs.

They aren't.
Do not try and argue with an audiophile on this. It may SOUND better to simpler ears because Rock Band probably it digitalized louder to sound "better" but Rock Band stuff isn't of the same quality as a loseless digital file, vinyl, or a CD. But it is nooooooo way an actual better quality.
Plus there is no "re-recording" of Rock Band songs. Unless it's a cover, then it's just a cover. Most Rock Band tracks just use the master track. Still the SAME exact thing that's on another form of media. Difference between Rock Band and another form is that Rock Band tracks have to be compressed. Plus if it does get louder...then it's even worse. So it's not of a perfect quality like a CD, vinyl, or FLAC would be.

That said, yesterday I was browsing around the library for some books and happened upon the CD section. I figured I might as well take a look, and found a CD that looked pretty cool. Jubilee by Grant Lee Buffalo. I haven't really listened to it except in the car, but it's been pretty good background music. More on this later.

Or, to put it more politely, "Neener neener."

Not all of them are rerecordings. Some are. They're when the whole timing of song at the same part is different, it's not the same recording. I can tell the difference. I'm sure your ears need a closer listen before your mouth spouts out crap without even bothering to check.
An no ekans, even itunes can't be blamed for the difference. compressed or not.

Whatever. It is the same recording. Go look it up, it's called a master recording. I'm really not going to argue this because you clearly have no idea what you're talking about. Not all of them are rerecordings. Some are. They're when the whole timing of song at the same part is different, it's not the same recording. I can tell the difference. I haven't listened to that song in probably eight years, but I did today because of that thread. Good times.
