I thought it'd be a good idea to have a whole topic dedicated to useful/interesting sites that we have found.

Giveaway of the Day - This place is awesome. It gives away one free piece of software every day. It also has an area with free games.

Winzy - If you're bored, and have nothing to do, I'd suggest going to Winzy and trying to win. Because the people who actually know BLU in real life know this place isn't a scam.

Last.fm - Last.fm is a great site if you like listening to music and want new things to listen to.

Download.com - Even if you probably know of it already, download.com is pretty useful when looking for a random piece of software.

Mycroft Project - Again, probably heard of it before, but still useful. It's a huge collection of additional search engines for the Firefox search bar at the top.

Joystiq - Just because I love Joystiq. Great game news blog.

Wow, I had read one of their articles a while ago and could not find it when I tried to look it up later.

Number 1 on their list of training myths is not a myth. I knew I had seen something false in the article, I just couldn't remember what it was until I poked through the website and saw the page.

it's more of a myth that people experience temporary muscle failure, and incorrectly label it as lactic acid buildup. calling DOMS lactic acid buildup is because people don't understand what happens to your muscles during exercise.

Lactic Acid is a fuel, but when it overloads your system, glycosis shuts down. sors:

During intense exercise, the respiratory chain cannot keep up with the amount of hydrogen atoms that join to form NADH. NAD+ is required to oxidize 3-phosphoglyceraldehyde in order to maintain the production of anaerobic energy during glycolysis. During anaerobic glycolysis, NAD + "frees up" when extra nonoxidized hydrogens combine with a pyruvate molecule and then form lactate. If this does not occur, glycolysis comes to a stop. However, there is lactate being continually formed at rest and during moderate exercise. This occurs due to the metabolism of red blood cells that do not have mitochondria and limitations resulting from enzyme activity that occurs in muscle fibers that contain a high glycolytic capacity.[12]

it's something i've frequently experienced after workouts, and it just feels like you're going to be sick and pass out unless you lay down and don't move.

Lactic acid isn't a fuel though. It's a caustic by-product of anaerobic fermentation, and we only make it when we aren't getting enough oxygen. Lactic acid buildup is what kills our red blood cells over time (they can't metabolize oxygen due to their lack of mitochondria). Source: A&P class.

EDIT: Drink more water (or Gatorade or what have you) during and/or after your workouts. It'll help lessen the pain afterward.

http://www.codecademy.com is a wonderful site for learning the basics (and some more advanced stuff too actually) of many programming languages in a simple and interactive way. Only problem so far is it doesn't have a PHP section, but for HTML/CSS/Javascript it's amazing, and I haven't looked at the Python and Ruby stuff yet.

The universe is a cruel, uncaring void. The key to being happy isn't a search for meaning. It's to just keep yourself busy with unimportant nonsense, and eventually, you'll be dead.
