This IS happening.

The old topic is a bit messy so I thought it would be nice to have an big old official topic right here.

What is MP-Con?

The annual (by MP standards) gathering of MP members from around the globe. Instead of staring at our screens, we'll be staring at each other, probably even outside!

When is MP-Con?

June 20th - June 24th 2016

4 nights, 5-ish days.

Where is MP-Con?

Colorado. Most likely Fra(i)ser, CO.

Specifically here:
http://www.vrbo.com/561533

How much does MP-Con cost?

Nothing. I'm taking care of lodging. The only cost is your travel expenses. I might ask for an optional donation closer to the date that would go towards food and stuff.

Can I bring family?

Sure. But do realize that lodging is limited.

What if I'm flying into Denver?

At the very least I should be driving to Denver, so I can pick up. I would suggest not to leave Denver or come into Denver too early or too late if you're going to book a flight.

Where do I sign up?

The Google Doc created by Puffin is here.

Please contact Puffin/Spaz/Me if you want to either get on the waiting list or confirm you're going.

When must I sign up by?

June 30th 2015. Anyone who is not "Definitely" going will not be considered signed up.

Before everyone takes all the open spots.

What if I miss the sign up date or decide not to go?

If we've already hit our limit of who can go you'll have to be put on a waiting list, then if somebody drops out you can take their place. Alternatively, you can just find your own cabin/hotel room and pay for it and then hang out with us during the day or something.

Where exactly are we staying at?

You can see in the Location tab of the Google Doc where exactly we're thinking of staying. Vote for where you want to go, and on June 30th we'll pick the winner (or Location C if it doesn't win and we need the space).

Wait, so the other thread is unofficial now?

Does uber operate where we'll be staying? If so I could probably arrange my own accommodation and uber back and forth as required.

I'm gonna abstain from voting simply due to the fact that I don't know the location at all and they all look perfectly fine to me.

Anyway if anyone is wondering what we'll be doing I've prepared a list of activities we can participate in:

Settlers of Catan
Dungeons and Dragons
Watching cartoons
Murder (Kamau may not wish to attend)
Generally goofing around
Arrow roulette
Sleeping

Chicken Dance
Scufflin'
Pie-off
Dodgepie

Sadly Uber only seems to operate only near Denver.

The locations are all slightly outside of Fraser, Colorado. It's in the Northwest side of the state.

According to the estimate I ran (because I looked that up recently). To Uber from the airport to our lodgings it'd be like $150ish.

Also I can bring board games! And probably will even if you don't want me to. I have a lot. Also Wii U, with lots of controllers and stuff.

Just googled and there's amtrak, so I'll jump on that.

Is there literally no Amtraks in South Dakota?

Sad.

Frost calculated a rough estimate for gas from my house to Location C and got about $140.
Now, just to be safe I upped it to $200. That would be $400 there and back, not including any additional driving to anywhere else.

Looking at the prices on Amtrak, driving would be WAY cheaper.

Looking back, I probably should have tried harder to spend less money on StarCon 2014. Still worth it though.

Also I can bring board games! And probably will even if you don't want me to. I have a lot. Also Wii U, with lots of controllers and stuff.

I want to try Mice and Mystics! Also Munchkin.

Murder (Kamau may not wish to attend)

Ha ha. Ha.

If/when we play and when/if I die, I'll volunteer to help out with keeping track of everything else. XD

Bringing anything on my end will depend on how I get there. Not looking to check a bag if I can help it, haha.

Amtrak goes from Denver to Fras(i)er? I'll have to look into that!

Gas and tolls came to about $560. Altogether the trip ran me about $900, including a general checkup on my car before leaving.

EDIT: Kamau knows that I will definitely be more careful with toll roads in the future...

Helpful tip to everyone: When your GPS suggests 240 miles on a toll road...find another way.

Also, to everyone who will be driving, get an ez-pass! You save money on each toll!

Sad.

There really aren't. That's why they call it a "flyover" state, and not a "trainthru". Yeah that's the reason, not because it sounds stupid.

Good news! Between the Mississippi and the Rockies, there are almost no toll roads, and when there are they're usually a local stretch through a city.
