So let's kick it back up again!
As some may know, I listen to some weird music, as some people would describe. But here is some sort of list of the genres, mostly sub-genres of Metal.
Pagan Metal
Power Metal
Folk Metal
Epic Metal
Melodic Black Metal
Melodic Death Metal
Heathen Metal
Celtic Metal
Heavy Metal
Viking Metal
Battle Metal
Dark Metal
Medieval Metal
(Some) Doom Metal
Progressive Metal
And you have alot of combinations... You even have a band that makes Epic Melodic Black/Death Pagan Folk Metal and stuff... But mostly I don't think in genres, I just listen to the music, whichever sub-genre it is.
But more non-metal thingies.
Rock 'n' Roll
Punk
Folk Music
Melancholic Music
Ska
Reggea
Medieval Music (Yes, there are a few bands who still makes it ^^)
Ambient Music
Post Rock
(Some) Jazz
Classical Music
So yeah... A wide variation indeed.

I don't really have a main genre, really. I just listen to whatever motivates me into doing another piece or helps me think of ideas...ect.
though I'm curious....what do you mean by pagan/celtic/medieval/viking metal, Sovelissssss?

Pagan Metal has nature influences, Pagan Metal is often combined with Folk Metal or Celtic Metal.
Celtic Metal, obviously have Celtic influences, Often celtic melodies and instruments.
Medieval Metal has a Medieval feeling to it, medieval melodies and stuff.
Viking Metal has Viking related lyrics about Scandinavian myths and history. also often quite heavy with folky melodies.

The universe is a cruel, uncaring void. The key to being happy isn't a search for meaning. It's to just keep yourself busy with unimportant nonsense, and eventually, you'll be dead.

Sounds to me like metal is suffering from an identity crisis. I would be, too, if I sucked that much.
Sounds like somone who only listened to Slipknot or Korn. Now those bands suck really, really hard. Crappy nu-metal. >.<
Believe me, there are alot of metal bands out there with really deep melodies and all, and not like Slipknot who just torture your ears.

it's bad. it's like 1% actual musical talent....and 80% whine, whine, whine and 19% just plain bad.

Well I'm not saying every song in the world sucks thats made now if it's metal.
I'm just saying the genre generally sucks nowadays...like rap, except I've always thought that sucked.(other then, you know, a few things)
