"The Odyssey" by Symphony X. It is exactly what it sounds like. It's a song about The Odyssey. And it's 24 goddamn minutes long. And yes, there are lyrics.

I cannot imagine how much of a chore this has to be to perform live.

my mom had back surgery, and was really drugged up for a week. so when i had the chance to take her to the dr, i jumped at it. not because i'm a good son, because im not, but because when i was younger, she would play terrible music on the radio, and when i complained told me that when i was driving the car, i could play my music. so i played sharp dressed man on repeat for almost an hour. the best part was she didn't even notice.

So, my favorite band is coming out with a new album in about a month, and they released a song in advance to get everyone excited about the album.

The last album or two, have been pretty mediocre by their standards, so this actually got me pretty excited, since this could be their first great album since "In With The Out Crowd" in 2006.

There's no youtube link, since Less Than Jake is only sharing it via this link. Don't worry though, it's totally legit. I'm on their newsletter, and they actually sent the link.

It's so sad listening to DJ Shadow now. I remember first hearing him and being absolutely blown away by how his tunes just sprawled organically wherever the fuck they wanted. I was filled with wonder, anything could happen in this music and I could end up anywhere and have no idea how I got there. And the whole journey was filled with so much soul and sincerity, and it was a journey through all forms of music from the 20th Century mashed together sometimes serenely, and at other times, with great unnerving conflict. It was the complete polar opposite of what his music would become.
