Watch the deathnote one... its in Japanese but its based off a manga and it has real people too...

I liked Beast Wars, and the old cartoon was okay, I just never got to see much of it. Not too fond of the new cartoons.

Beast Wars takes place way after the original Transformers. But somehow they get sucked back in time and at some point discover the original Transformers before they're even reactivated on Earth.
In fact, the BW Megatron combines his spark with that of the original Megatron to become this badass dragon. Optimus Primal does the same (I think; I missed that episode) to become a giant gorilla with 4 different forms (I have the toy; it's spiffy).
