latin has TONS of little grammatical bits and bobs that other languages have as well. since romance languages all borrow from latin, you train yourself to recognize words better, and learn how words all borrow from one another.
What do you think is the most useful language to learn?

Dead language is dead.
I had a class on prefixes, suffices and root words when I was in 6th grade. Between being good at english and learning spanish and japanese, I Iearned how to language. Apparently I've got a head for some of the nuances, like the difference between words when at first glance they seem to have the exact same definition.

It was in a class that was part of the 'challenge' program for kids who needed more challenge than normal classes could provide. We had a big section on it that I still somewhat remember. And then I think we went on to analogies. Where I remember learning what 'cetacean' means. And cartographer. Because knowing the word cartographer would earn me a free 100 on a quiz of my choice in later years at a different school.odd, the things we remember from way back.

To me I'd like to learn a language so I can actually put it to use. Gonna stick with improving my Spanish and learning more Portuguese and French
