I want to learn how to make apps. Sometimes the mobile layout of the site frustrates me and I'd like to be able to share things directly to monkeypro. Does anyone know if this is a realistic first app project? Are there any problems I should anticipate?
I'll probably set up a git repo when I get started if anyone wants to contribute.

Shouldn't be too difficult. You can probably just make a cURL frontend that posts to the boards. I don't know how "share to Monkeypro" would work, since there are quite a few different boards to choose from, but it's certainly an interesting concept. There are a number of IPB apps out there of varying quality, so I'm sure there are plenty of discussions on how to do it that could help you out.

I would so love a MP app!

How is this project evolving?
Do we have any beta version yet?
I would recomend we make a forum specific for the shares.
That way the steps in the app can be made to a minimal.
I guess there are 2 ways to post. Either by some API that would be supplied by IP board.
Or as said earlier, with some cURL handler.
I would suggest you make a prototype on a desktop based environment to work out a good way to post, then transfer the logic over to a phone App

Sadly it's at 0%. I've been working on other stuff. Feel free to make a start though, post a link to a github repo and I'll help out when I can.

I'm still interested in the project, from an academic point of view, but I've gotten to the point where I don't really use apps on my phone anymore. I mean, they were a good idea when phones were slow and their browsers were buggy. But these days, most sites (MonkeyPro included) offer a mobile view, but more importantly, I can instantly switch between mobile and full view while in browser. I can zoom in with the browser, and do everything I would do on a PC.
So while yes, I'm still interested and want to see the app made, it's mostly from a "supporting my friends" perspective than from a desire to use it.
