This week's update brought to you in part by political monologues in motion pictures.

"But, verily, it be the nature of dreams to end." - The Wind Fish

End though dreams might, each new night seems to bring to life yet another egg, surrounded by an island of magic and fantasy. Where bananas are traded for dog food, mice show up whenever you are most photogenic, and animals live in their own village.

Well, crap. This analogy got out of hand quickly. I mostly just wanted to point out that Kamau is one of the most active and detailed members of our "Dreams OMG!" topic in the general discussion forum. I mean, that's pretty cool, right? I sure think so.

Game of the Week

Game151.png

Cyber Factor
Cyber Factor takes place in a world inspired by cyber punk stories like The Matrix and Lawnmower man, where people's consciousness and souls are "data," but in this game, that is the world's defining trait, rather than it's dirty secret.

This game uses the default systems of RM2k3 well enough, even if nothing stands out as extraordinary. According to the developer, the game is intended to be a semi-open world/linear story game, like Secret of Mana.

Sadly, like damn near all RM games, a demo is all this shall ever be. However, a newer version is available here: http://cyberfactor.blogspot.com/ .

What do you mean out of hand? Link's Awakening references are always totally called for.

Hello everybody this is the creator of Cyber Factor (Le'Audric Kinard) just wanted to thank you guys for making Cyber Factor your game of the week... well game of last week and I hope everyone enjoys the game.

I should also note that I am actually still working on the game. Real life stuffs (college, work, other game projects, etc) tend to give me very little time to work on it and there have been HUGE development gaps where I had absolutely no time to work on it at all but at this point, with all the work I've done there's absolutely no way I'm gonna let this game go unfinished.

In fact the main game itself IS finished what's left is post-game quests/extra quests, bug fixing, polishing and tying up a ton of loose ends.

Also that blog you linked to is reeeeaaaaallllyyyyy outdated. I'm pretty sure I only made a couple of posts on it before I realized how much I hated doing the whole blog thing...

I'm not even sure if the download link there still works. It takes me through a ton of craziness on a website I've never seen then askes me to download something I've never heard of so I wouldn't recommend it at all.

Though I noticed you guys found Demo II somewhere but you seem to be missing the much larger demo III (2008 Demo) which includes the first area of the game (if I remember correctly demo II ends when you leave Heaven's Edge. I consider that part of the game as the "prelude" if you will).

If you don't mind going through another site you can get demo III here: http://rpgmaker.net/.../470/downloads/

Or else I can just send it to you. Either way you can put it on this site if you want (actually I'd prefer you to put up demo III as it's a far better representation of the final game).

Done and done.

Thank you for telling us this and giving us permission. It's awesome to have someone randomly post about their game like that here. I hope you poke your head back in once in a while and share with us the greatness that is you and your game!

I'm sure we all know what it's like to have projects super derailed because of life. Life is lame.

Greetings, person who made our game of the last week.

I'm curious as to what led you here. Did someone tell you that your game was featured on the site, or do you monitor the interwebs for references to your game or something?

@Monkeydog: Whoa that was fast... and yeah I'll be sure to post the finished version of the game here.

@Stars: Well I just decided to search for it today... honestly though I tend to do this ALOT so I could end up anywhere it's mentioned I suppose. I find it to be a great morale booster when I find someone talking about my game (with this being the equivalent of a morale bomb, my urge to work is now like 1000% lol).

This fills me with unexpected happiness. I'm glad choosing your game could serve as a moral booster for you. I'm also glad to see that I was wrong about your game being a perpetual demo! Keep up the good work!

I'm excited about seeing a virtual face behind the game. Whenever these games are posted each week I check them about but feel disconnected. It is awesome that the creator noticed us featuring their game and popped in to comment on it. It's like we're interacting or something.
