...They drive me to sew.

As I mentioned in Win Some, Lose Some, I've finally been able to work on my pony plushies for more than an hour or so a week, and as such I finally have something to show for my efforts. This is my first attempt with my enlarged pattern (this one makes 15" ponies instead of 7"). It's not quite finished yet, but I just got the tail attached and the body closed up a short while ago, and that felt like a good milestone.



This was going to be a Derpy, but there were some embroidery issues. This one only has one eye (that I had to finish off with a sharpie) and no cutie marks. I do have some other fabric pieces with properly embroidered eyes and marks for Derpy (as seen in ATTENTION STARS!!!), so I'll be assembling those after I finish off this rougher version.

Wow, that looks excellent! Good work! How many hours total did you work on it?

It's hard to say. The time was so broken up, and I was usually watching/listening to something in the background as I worked. Maybe 10-12 hours? I had intended to keep track. I'll have to make sure I do that more accurately with the next one. xp

I'm also going to have to make some changes with future ponies. The pattern could stand some adjusting - the head tilts back like it's staring at clouds or something and the body could stand to be a bit longer - and a few places where I can manage it would benefit from some machine stitching for extra strength (and speed).

I've tweaked the pattern a bit to (hopefully) fix some of the things I wasn't happy with on my first pony. I just finished interfacing and cutting out the pieces for the next pony, which will hopefull take me less time to assemble.

I got the designs for free from the blog of a fellow named E the Pony. Really all I have to do is change out spools when the machine is ready for a new color. :p

16" x 16" Companion Cube pillow acquired!

 

I saw something like this on deviantArt a while back, and I immediately wanted one. So I made one. Because I can. Go me.

It's been months since I last did any sewing, and I wanted to do something to ease back into it. Next up is finishing the ponies I started last fall. xp

If anybody is interested in buying a similar pillow (or perhaps a set), I'd be happy to make more in whatever size is requested. I'm not sure how much they'd cost yet. I guess that would depend on the desired size and quality of materials.

 

But of course the ponies come first. I'm still working on two late gifts, and Spaz has dibs on my first pony commission. I could still work on some pillows as a diversion if I start to get tired of manes and wings not cooperating, but the ponies take precedence for now.
