Congratulations! You've been invited for an all-expenses paid trip to MonkeyCon 2013! When planning the trip, Monkeydog was contacted by the Stansylvania Board of Tourism, who desperate to get some visitors to their backwards and superstitious country are willing to foot the bill for as many members as want to come.

This topic is for talking about the game out of character, deciding who will play, and serving up the rules.

Some players will be werewolves, who by night undergo a terrible transformation and can not stop from killing one player.
Some players will secretly be werewolf hunters, who can investigate one player per night, and see what they really did.
Most players will be innocent bystanders, who must find and kill the werewolves before they are killed themselves.

And possibly more...

The game will begin on Friday, Jan 18*

You will have 48 hours to talk amongst yourselves about what you want to do that day. There must be at least a 51% consensus on who to lynch, or everybody goes to bed.

Players with night roles will have 24 hours to send in their actions. Werewolves may choose who to kill, and the Doctor may choose to stay with one player and save them if they are attacked. If two werewolves attack the same player though, even the doctor can do nothing. If the werewolves choose to kill nobody, one player will die of dysentery or something. The hunters may follow one player each per night, and will get to see if they change, but they can do nothing about it! The werewolves can only be killed during the day phase.

I will play as well, and ask Amethyst did, I may be a werewolf, a hunter, the doctor, or a townsperson. I will keep my duties and game Master and player separate, and it will be possible to kill me if any players desire. You are allowed to contact other players in any way you choose, be it through PM, IM, or in the official role play thread (Which doesn't exist yet).

Soon the game will be afoot, who of you will be its shoe?

So to clarify. The werewolves (if there are more than one) can choose to go after two different people, or collaborate and go after the same person? And if they go after the same person, that person is guaranteed to die, but if it's more than one target there's a chance of survival?

To add to Kamau's question, do the werewolves know who the other werewolves are? Or could they kill each other by uncontrollable accident?

Yes, Kamau is correct. The werewolves may collaborate with each other, though they do not have to. If they both decide to go after the same target, even the doctor (if there is one) cannot save that player. But the doctor can only choose one player per night to watch, and if the werewolves do not attack that player, the doctor does nothing. If the werewolves pick two different targets, the doctor can only save one of them. But note, there may be more roles than what I've revealed, there may be more doctors, there may be none. Who knows?

Glacie: Each werewolf will know at least one other werewolf. There may be more, but you can not be sure. Also as I said before, the werewolves may not be the only faction we have to worry about. Some players may have their own hidden agendas, and subterfuge is the name of the game!


Also, I don't think we have enough players yet... Should I extend to Friday? Or do you think nobody else will join anyway? I don't want to keep you guys waiting too long to start, but I do want it to be as full as possible.

I'm totally up for it but not 100% sure if I'll be able to if we do it via webcam.

Sounded like in the rules we had 24 or 48 hours to do things, so i'm assuming it's via another thread and not webcam.

Yeah, there will be a thread. It will actually work out pretty much the same as the Murderside Resort game, except with rules about how long each day and night can last.

Oops! Sorry, I came back to reply to you and Glaciermage over my lunch break, and for some reason I thought you were already in there.

Also the deadline has been moved back to Friday. I'll probably close off registration around 9PM EST. I should note that when I say things like 48 hours and 24 hours, it doesn't mean that exact amount of time. It just means two or one day, respectively. And of course, once all users have turned in their actions (IE coming to a consensus during the day or choosing who to kill at night) then that period will end and the next will begin. So check back daily, you never know what may have changed!
