I'm actually pretty disappointed at the lack of attention this game has been getting from the community, although I can certainly understand why. Nintendo has done a lot to alienate certain types lately (myself included) but this game is... Well... I go through waves of emotion with this game. At times, I feel really excited and want to play it, but then others... I'm sickened by the though of a crippled control scheme. But on the other hand, it's just about the first Wii game I've been looking forward to since... Well since Brawl.

Overall... I think I'm looking forward to the game. It drops on the 31st, and I'll probably get it. Might even preorder it just for the "exclusive" artfolio. Whatever that means. What are your thoughts on the game?

My thoughts: Already pre-ordered and paid it off.

More thoughts: I am very much looking forward to the first Metroid game in - *double checks* - eight years that (mostly) isn't played in first person. I also like the idea of the control scheme. When the Wii first came out, I was under the impression that more games would use the controller held sideways like this. Not sure what happened to that.

I was actually under the impression that no games would, since the nunchuck comes with all Wiis and the D-Pad is an outdated mode of control.

Excite Truck used it, and I rather liked it once I got used to it. I think that may be the only one I've played that used it sideways, though, barring virtual console games.

My impression is I don't have a Wii so I don't care.

However, if I DID have a Wii, I'd totally buy it. (or steal it)

Super Metroid and Metroid Prime are among my favorite games of all time. I've sort of fallen out of love with the Metroid series, though. I think this game sounds interesting, but I guess I'm a little skeptical. And my Wii won't read discs, so. There's that.

I never much cared for Metroid Prime, again, the controls were pretty bad, I just couldn't get into it, but this looks like more like it's reverting to former Metroid gameplay, which excites me (Though I'm still cautious)

I've never played a Metroid game, but I've seen Lazlo play the Super Nintendo one and it looked cool. Well, more the story is cool. The game just looked like a SNES game. Anyway more than I'm excited for this game, I'm just excited to own a new video game, even if it's going to technically be Lazlo's.

If you played it, you'd recognize it's more than just any generic Super NES action game. It's got strategy.

And everything else that was in every SNES action/adventure game ever.

I feel that this is an accurate summation of all the reviews that are out for the game so far:

-Switching to 1st person to fire missiles is clunky and slow. Team Ninja sucks

+Switching to 1st person is near instant and designers made smart decision in adding second of slow-mo when switching. Team Ninja r smart

-Auto-aim is hit-and-miss, frustrating gameplay

+Auto-aim is smart

?-Auto-aim smart enough to make game too easy

-Poor texturing, blurring

+Fantastic graphics, better than many PS3 and 360 games

-Total miss on keeping metroid-series atmosphere, other characters ruin game

+After intro, games goes right back to what Metroid has always been about

-Samus is whiny, 12-year old with daddy issues

+Samus backstory is explored, many connections to other Metroid games, fans will love it.

lolwut- Samus reason for not using all abilities from beginning is sexist

(That last one is a reference to G4's horrid review, I think.)

I watched a bunch of videos on Nintendo Channel today and decided to go ahead and preorder at Gamestop. I got the 31st and the 1st off so I could play, but unfortunately I wasn't able to order it for pickup, I have to have it delivered for some reason, so I won't get to play for about a week. On the other hand, I got free shipping, so that's cool. Am I excited? Yeah pretty much.

I have no idea why, but if you search for "Scott Pilgrim" on Amazon.com and go to Video Games, this game comes up as one of the two results.

There are some things about it that annoy me - the long monologues and those scenes where you're forced to stop until you spot some tiny detail in the surrounding area - but overall I've been thoroughly enjoying it.

(I don't have a problem with samus having a voice; I just wish she'd use it a bit less often. =/)

(From the What are you playing thread)

I actually kind of like the soliloquies, and it's proof that Nintendo can hire decent voice actors. My only beef is that nearly every room you walk into has a cutscene, and you can't hold a charge when something is going on, so every time you fight a miniboss, you have to waste some time charging.

And I hate, hate, HATE that mode where the camera rides up Samus' ass and you can't shoot or fight or move or anything. The controls for the game are bad enough, but please don't add bad cameras into the mix as well!

More to come later...

Agreed. And speaking of the camera, I wish it would be better about keeping Samus in the middle of the screen during fights. I was fighting some big beastie that was like an extra large sheegoth with antlers, and it kept charging at me from angles I couldn't see. >:(

On another note, I'm not quite sure what to think of the new "pieces of heart" idea.

Although the story was pretty interesting, I couldn't help but be a little disgusted at the corniness of it all. MB isn't the monster... HUMANS ARE THE REAL MONSTERS!
