What scares you? not like in the sense that someone you love will get hit by a bus, but like, the kind of things that you think about as your mind races as you try to fall asleep. The kinds of things you think about walking home alone in the dark with glancing eyes at everything that darts about in the night.

i see things when my imagination allows. only for a fleeting instant out of the corners of my eyes. i see the girl from the ring/grudge. she's standing there with blood pouring out of eyeless sockets. sometimes she just points at me. other times she looks as if she screams. mirrors also scare the crap out of me. not like i'll see my killer and turn around and nothing will be there, more like i'll see something in the mirror that can't exist in the real world, like it only exists in the mirror. my imagination is way too overactive to just normally walk somewhere at night. especially at 2am when there's no signs of life from anywhere.

I'm not really, afraid of anything, in the regard you're talking about. Unless I've just watched something. Like when I saw Paranormal Activity, I was alone in my room in the dark at 1am. I was freaked all night.

Depends on my mood. There are times where the only thing I'd be afraid of are sensible things, like someone breaking into the house at night. Othertimes, though, I get incredibly superstitious and I end up keeping myself up all night being afraid of ghosts and the like. The black dog is usually what comes to mind during those times, though any sort of mythological blacker-than-black with glowing red eyes type tends to scare the crud out of me (weirdly specific, eh?).

Pretty much everything ... It's kinda pathetic: I'll flinch at anything, random noises around my house will completely scare me, I don't trust random .gifs on the internet, etc. Horror movies in general freak me out far more then they should, although I find super violent bloody things like Saw to be awesome ('cept when creepy pig head bursts out of the closet).

The worst thing ever involves a strobe light'd room and things/people slowly moving closer to you. It's super evil because the strobiness doesn't allow you to see that they're moving but suddenly things will be right in front of you and I hate it soooo much.

Oh, and I suppose this article is somewhat relevant...

Whenever I'm out in front of my house when it's dark (even just to take out the trash or move a car), I always feel like some huge stray dog is going to run over and maul me. <_<
Doesn't help that our old neighbors had huge scary dogs that probably would have done just that if they ever got loose...

^ I've found that fear lately. Never used to be afraid of that, but our next door neighbor keeps, like, nine dogs. All of whom are ill-tempered. I wasn't really afraid till the time I had to race to the door to avoid being bitten. >_>

Zombies, zompacolypse, closets, the ocean, germs, sickness and disease, Naomi growing up in a world where young girls are bitches like iCarly and Hannah Montana, thoughts of Naomi or Robbie having anything wrong with them or dying for some unforeseen reason, storms that make our trailer shake, bugs, the government, ghosts, violent people, not being able to see. Various other things I can't be bothered to think of.

Spiders. Getting down after getting up there. Disappointment. Disapproval. Roller coasters. Going too fast.

A fear that carbon monoxide would seep into the house and we wouldn't notice it and would all die used to keep me up at night as a kid. Same with the idea that the house was going to burn down. It took hours for me to be able to get to sleep, especially when the monoxide fear was strongest because I'd force myself to stay awake just to prove that I wasn't being knocked out involuntarily.

I think about a lot of other stuff these days. Like the idea that it's all too easy for a car to veer off the side of the road and hit someone. Or that a plane will crash while I'm on it. Or the train will derail. I think about every possibility, but at least it's not overwhelming enough for me to call these 'fears' anymore.

That happened to me. Well, except the part where we died. Our furnace broke ever so slightly- enough to slowly poison the air over several years. It may have killed one of our dogs, but we're fine.

The universe is a cruel, uncaring void. The key to being happy isn't a search for meaning. It's to just keep yourself busy with unimportant nonsense, and eventually, you'll be dead.

Also, I'm absolutely terrified of the idea that someone I care about will die while I'm away at college. I recalled that one tonight when it struck once again.

Oh gawd, I'd forgotten that I was scared of that! That happened here in town a year or two ago. The mom came home and found her daughter and husband dead. The cops came and were trying to investigate and realized that they were getting loopy and having trouble focusing/walking, so they went out and threw the gas masks on. That, coupled with like 4 dead pets convinced them it was carbon monoxide poisoning and not a murder.

I hope this helps your fear. It didn't help mine. In fact, I'd never even really heard/thought of carbon monoxide poisoning before that.

I'm not really afraid of anything that goes bump in the night. If anything, I have a weird paranoia that makes me feel a safer. It's best explained with this comic. I pretty much do that all the time.

I'm always afraid of precision torture or death. This includes needles, scalpels, pulling out nails, the small stuff. There is just something about it being so small and so precise that makes me shudder. I also am afraid of heights that I can fall from. If I'm inside a tall building, I'm fine. If I go on on the balcony and look over, suddenly my legs weaken and I want to get as far away as possible.

Ultimately, I think my biggest fear is that stupidity will become the norm. A world where everyone is just being a jackass and stupid and there is no one left with common sense. I swear I have played out such scenarios but for some reason I can't remember any of them. But trust me, when I see it happen I scream in anger then crawl into a corner.

The lol people. They're taking over...

Ah yes, the stupidity worries me also. One of many sources of stupidity: communication and the youth. I'm sick of this fucking texting/twitter b.s. Like, c'mon. I have to raise a child in this shit? Everyone and everything is going to tell her she wants a Blackberry for her 5th birthday so she can omg text her bestiezzzzz. Sweet.

BottomGuy, I trust you've seen Idiocracy?

Anyway I really don't see what's wrong with text/tweets. Then again this is coming from someone who is next to constantly texting... Is it just the price of the technology?

No, it's the price of being an asshole. You can use new technology without being ridiculous on it. Texting is convenient but shouldn't replace human contact/actual conversation. I weep for the future.

I think that it is absolutely stupid when people freak out about the internet or their phones stop working for short periods of time. I have seen it in TV shows as plot and I have seen it in real life. People act like it is the end of days when they can't access youtube or their e-mail for a couple of hours. And then god for bid if you can't text someone back immediately. When someone's phone went dead once they started complaining and freaking out about not being able to talk to someone and this was the sad part. "Wait...you were talking to Trevor?" "Yes! And I urgently need to tell him something!" "He's right down the hall in his room you! Go talk to him in PERSON!" Don't get me wrong, I think technology is great. If it weren't for phones we wouldn't be able to talk instantaneously to someone across the country or dial 911. And the internet contains valuable information and has improved businesses and the exchange of ideas. But good god man, don't flip out if you can't tweet that the power just went out.

I also fear going blind. Not deaf though. It would suck to be deaf, but sight is just such an important sense for interacting with the world. Take out my tongue or cut off my hand, but leave my eyes alone!

And yes, I have seen Idiocracy. We are doooooooooomed.

I've known people who freak out like that... >_> In one case I even saw someone flip out because my boyfriend wouldn't respond to her texts. She texted him for days on end and just got bitchier about it (she even said in one text that she knew I wasn't letting him talk to her and that I was a bitch and he should dump me 9_9 In case you can't guess, that wasn't the case at all)... Thing is, my boyfriend had lost his charger and his phone was dead. Since we don't have a car and there are no Sprint stores in walking distance or anything, we couldn't replace it until the end of the week. The even stupider part of it is that she didn't try any other way of contacting him. Didn't call the home phone, no emails, she didn't even facebook him.
All in all, I do think phones kind of suck, as useful as they are. Especially rude people, like those who can't help but yell into a phone (especially if they can't even walk out of a room to do so) or people who text constantly even when they're hanging out with friends or at a movie/play (especially hate the latter).
Have to say, I both look forward to and fear futute technology, only because of the small and absolutely idiotic ways people will abuse it. It's basically your fear of everyone just becoming stupid and lacking all common sense. Though I think I would rather kill people than just hide away if that were ever the case.

I am afraid to be deaf and/or blind. I have bad hearing as it is and it really sucks and I don't think I'd cope with losing all of my hearing well. Blind would just be horrible, though. I wouldn't be able to draw the same ever again. =/ Wouldn't mind being mute, though. Maybe then people would stop bugging me to talk.
