I know what I'm going to be addicted to.

(Unless this happens to be a RPG)

Something to keep an eye on. I am a bit weary, however. Age of Empires 2 was great, but I really don't see what stretch of the imagination has made them think an MMO is an appropriate place to take this IP.

They could pull off something amazing where you build your own Capital City that expands and gets upgrades the more you play, and playing is the competitive matches of the game we love and you can work on teams or go solo.

But since this is reality, they're just going to take the franchise name, turn it into a bland and unrelated MMO, make some money, and watch as we flip them off.

*wanders off to look at the game Civilization 5 he's heard so much about*

Not "conspiracies". Conspiracy. Singular.

But Age of Empires already goes online.

That's what I thought too.

Oh gaaaawd. Civilization 5. Nobody should ever even let me touch that game considering what happens to me if I install Civilization IV...

*thinks about installing that*

Huh.

Tragic to see them go to a more cartoon style of artwork, but I am intrigued by this "persistent world" thing. Being able to have a constant empire might be cool, especially if friends can combine their empires to ravage others. Just hoping I can adjust to the new art.

I'm not THAT turned off by the graphical style...I can really care less what a game looks like as long as it looks good.

But...it's free, and I have to pay for certain parts, and just...argh I don't know.

I'd rather they have a clean, clear graphical style than a gritty, moody style that obscures what unit I'm selecting.

The aim, presumedly, is also to allow the game to run fine on lower spec machines so that plebs and students are able to play comfortably.

Yeah, I agree. Generally if it's a choice between silly cartooniness and dark gritty realism I'll take the former.

I have nothing against either really. I just prefer clear, usable interfaces that maximize my gaming zen.
