Seriously.
It's one of the best movies I've ever seen. I love it to death. I've already seen it twice, and I can't wait to see it again.

Does anyone want to open up this thread to actual spoilerized discussion of this movie with me? Because it seriously deserves to be analyzed. I have not stopped thinking about what happened in this movie since I saw it.

SPOILER WARNING
So, I guess we can start by discussing the ending. Was Cobb dreaming or not? Well, in my opinion, it doesn't matter if he was dreaming in the end or not. He made peace with his past and finally got to see his children's faces. That was good enough for me.

But who's to say the whole movie wasn't just a dream? There's a lot of evidence against it even being real life. I'd go more into detail, but tired. Basically it revolves around the fact nothing is thoroughly explained involving the dream machines, the fact that a lot of the real world is weird (like Saito randomly being in Mumbasa or whatever), and that totem not actually being Cobb's. Plus it is still doesn't prove that Saito or Cobb ever made it back from limbo, he could be dreaming he did, still.ummm...i think it's pretty obvious he was in real life, considering everyone was on the airplane juuuuust like they were before they did the thing with the stuff

But there are things that do. Like Cobb not having his own totem. The whole dream like state of Cobb's being in the real world. Being chased down by corporate goons, our inability to know how exactly he got on that train in the beginning of the movie, the nightmarish feel of him being stuck in the small area between walls while running from the goons in Mumbasa, Saito just conveniently being around and doing things when he needed them. He may have never left limbo, ever, or never left a dream to begin the whole movie with. The whole movie itself could have been a dream, with Mal being completely right when she killed herself. And why wouldn't he have to leave the US? If it was a dream, he, or whoever it is (most likely Mal), could dream up whatever circumstances they wanted to. And, no, he wouldn't have only gone back to the snow level, that'd be impossible, because he would have been kicked out of it. Since time moves so slow in limbo, he would have gotten back to the snow level shortly after Ellen Page, if he left with Saito. If he left a lot later, the two other layers of dreams would no longer exist, since Arthur and Emes would have woken up. The kicks deeper down also make no sense to me, since apparently if you die in limbo you go up a level, which doesn't work with the other three levels, and for some reason the had a kick in the third level...despite kicks being used to kick people out of the level below them...and since the third was technically the lowest level, aside from limbo, I don't see why Emes had to blow it all up.if he made it out of limbo only, he would have gone back to the snow level. there's nothing to suggest that the whole movie is a dream, and with the rules that they described, he wouldn't have had to flee the US in the first place because the whole white blood cell effect of the subconcious projections would not have affected Cobb.

The universe is a cruel, uncaring void. The key to being happy isn't a search for meaning. It's to just keep yourself busy with unimportant nonsense, and eventually, you'll be dead.

I tried to get one of my local friends to go see it so he could tell me how it is, but he flat out refused because "every movie with Leo in it is garbage." <_<
Everybody else I've asked who has actually seen it says it awesome, though.

Saying that I am a bit surprised to see it listed as the 3rd best film of all time on imdb.
EDIT: apologies for the poorly constructed sentences I'm having a bit of a fatigue induced brainfart.

I can't think of anything to say about it that hasn't already been said. I do like that link that Monkey posted, though.
Oh, on second thought, it did make me think of the inn in Magicant with the guy that mentions having a dream within a dream. Bonus points for that.

My feelings for the film have kind of simmered down since my initial seeing, but I still really love the film.
