So my mom has decided that she wants to get something akin to a smartphone but without the "phone" part (she likes her little flip phone that's easy to understand and doesn't do anything fancy =p).
Just so I know what options there are when I help her pick one out, are there any decent ones besides the iPod Touch that you guys know of? I tried poking around BestBuy.com, but everything else they had was expensive and/or poo.

All I can think of is Zii Egg, but they're expensive.
Everything else would be far more specific to what it should be than smart phoney.

Hmm, I haven't heard of anything specific (although a bunch of rumors about Android tablets) ... you could try looking around here: http://www.umpcporta...m/allumpcs.html but they might be larger than what you're looking for.

Does she want like a PDA? Because I've heard good things about the HP iPaq. Not really sure what she wants... Maybe this but it's kind of the same thing as an iPod, and you mightas well get that.

Yeah, she's looking for something akin to a PDA. She has a laptop already; we're just looking for something pocket-sized for her.
The Archos 5 looks like one of the better alternatives, but it doesn't really seem to have anything on the Touch (other than Android), and it's still more expensive. =/

Don't get it. Unless you mother happens to be tech savvy. It apparently is a horrible device if you aren't.
