Miyanaga Saki is a high school freshman who does not like mahjong. Ever since she was a child, she would lose her New Year’s gift money during her family's mahjong game. If she won, her parents would be upset, and if she lost, well, she lost. As a result, she has learned to play in such a way that her score always remains plus/minus zero: Not good enough to win, but not bad enough to lose. When we meet her, she is being dragged to her school’s mahjong club by an old friend. How will a girl who hates mahjong, yet has become adept at the game as a result of her upbringing, cope in this environment?
Mmkay, so I've wanted to watch this since it was airing awhile ago, but I never did. Recently I saw the DVD releases coming out, so I thought I'd check it out. It turns out I'm really liking this anime. While that summary does sound rather drab, it's become fairly interesting. The show itself is pretty fast-paced, with little time for any character development. Though I suppose character development isn't as important here, where you can clearly see how archetypal most characters are. Though none of that is a bad thing, for me at least. It's been keeping me interested while K-ON!! has been saddening me with lack of anything happening.
