Are any of you Linux people (or anyone else, for that matter) familiar with gOS (Good OS)?

The new Cloud OS they're working on sounds rather similar in concept to Chrome OS, except you're not forced to use Chrome. =p

I've known about this.

And despite its existence, I'm still more excited about Chrome OS then ever using gOS.

I'm just sad that neither one seems to have a projected release date. =(

What are you talking about...?

Good OS has been usable for years, it's on 3.1!

Chrome OS has also been available for a while, kinda:

I know gOS Gadgets is out. I meant gOS Cloud, their new OS that's still in private beta.

Is Chromium actually usable (for non-coders like myself)? I haven't really looked into it. I just know they're saying that Chrome will only work on hardware that it's specifically designed for.

EDIT: Now that I look it up again, it seems that Chrome OS is supposed to be coming out later this year.

EDIT 2: I find it quite strange that even though Cloud claims to be based on a modified version of Firefox, it looks almost exactly like Chrome. <_<

Hmm, after looking up info on several alternative OSs - like gOS and Chrome - and noting that they're pretty much all derived from Unix, I somehow started considering switching to Linux at some point in the future. >_> <_<

The only problem with that is games... Maybe I'll think of switching again when Wine can properly handle Steam, or else if Steam gets an official release.

Or just dual-boot :P

I thought of that, but it would just result in me still using Windows all the time. The whole point of switching would be for me not to need Windows at all anymore.

You could always use one of those streaming game services.

But usually, you probably will want a Windows partition around, especially if you're one to play games. But I don't see why that would mean you using Windows all the time.

Because the Linux thing was very much a whim, and I don't know what I would use it for that I can't do with Windows. =/

I know next to nothing about Linux. <_<;

Always time to learn. It's especially easy to get your feet wet these days with distros like Ubuntu and friends.

Anyway, I don't know about this whole cloud computing idea... I like to keep a lot of stuff in the cloud, sure, but it just seems like a bad idea to completely rely on internet service to be able to use your computer. But maybe that's just because I'm poor.

Or just dual-boot :P also Chromifox is awesome.

I'll never understand why firefox users love their browser so much, yet go through painstaking efforts to make it look like other browsers.
