I read that every gym leader's name has something to do with what they specialize in or their personality. Looking through all of them thought I don't see that being a consistent trend. Anyone know what the importance of some of these names might be? Haven't looked at the Elite Four members yet.

Gotta set you straight. Giovanni is Silver's dad, not Ash/Red's.

Gotta set you straight, Red is not Ash. In Pokemon Live Delia told Ash that Giovanni was his father. It also explains why he sent Jessie and James (His worst team) after Ash. They're actually not bumbling idiots, they were sent to watch over him to make sure he's safe.

As for Silver's dad... Well that I don't know. Could be Giovanni, he can have more than one child.

2. It's in the pokemon comic by the creator of pokemon, Pokemon Special. Which is pretty much the story of pokemon all the way up through ruby and sapphire.

Also, if you read in serebii.net, it even has it in HGSS as part of the celebi event that you go back in time to find out giovanni is silver's dad and the reason why Silver is bad and hates team rocket.

Pokemon Special is different than the games, though. Same universe, same names, but different characters, or did you fail to notice what Red's first Pokemon was? But I don't know what Silver being Giovanni's son has to do with it. My dad has four children.

No, Janine is Koga's daughter, replacing him as poison gym leader, since he himself is in the elite 4 now. Thus, she was in silver and gold.
