I don't know.i just finished plastic beach, and it wasnt what i expected. all the guest rappers made the band seem like a guest on their own cd. it just didnt have the same feel as demon days
I didn't much enjoy the guest rappers, De La Soul and Snoop Dogg's stuff was nice, but not great.
But I really feel like the majority of the good stuff is like On Melancholy Hill and Rhinestone Eyes, that's just Gorillaz. And the stuff with Lou Reed, Bobby Womack, and Little Dragon is superb.
I think if you take the good vs. the alright it still makes for a really good album, of course it doesn't feel like Demon Days though, but Demon Days didn't feel like the first album either.

And Plastic Beach has ONE extra rap song vs. Demon Days four.
Plastic Beach also has one more song on it. I don't think this album was every meant to have any upbeat dancyness to it. Apparently this album had a lot of just instrumental stuff to it hat Albarn had to cut, and the instrumentals are the saving grace for things like White Flag, I believe.
I don't know, I really enjoy the album, it's a different beast from the other two albums though. And you know, the popular songs from the first two albums, Clint Eastwood, Rock The House, Dirty Harry, Feel Good Inc...all were predominantly guest people to begin with. There really isn't a Gorillaz band, it's just Damon Albarn when he decides to sing, the whole idea of Gorillaz is just one big collaboration.

The big part of both those albums are just downbeat trip hop pop songs.

The universe is a cruel, uncaring void. The key to being happy isn't a search for meaning. It's to just keep yourself busy with unimportant nonsense, and eventually, you'll be dead.

Yes, because On Melancholy Hill and Empire Ants are better. Is it strange that my favorite song on the album is Glitter Freeze?
(but nah, Glitter Freeze is pretty alright)
