this is pretty cool. www.pandora.com you enter an artist or song title, and based on whats in the song, it makes you a personal playlist which you can then further customize by telling the program if you like the song or not.
right now it's playing me Lionheart by Blind Gaurdian because it features hard rock roots, heavy use of vocal harmonies, interweaving vocal harmony, intricate melodic phasing, and a use of a string ensemble.

http://grooveshark.com Is another one.
I dunno which is better though, I've never really used either. But then again, I'm lame and hardly listen to new music

Pandora only ever plays things I already own. :(
Although there is a cool web app to let it scrobble to Last.FM, which is awesome.

I've used Pandora for years. It's pretty neat, as long as you make new stations every once in a while. After a certain point (once you've 'thumbs up'd' a decent amount of things) it's just the same songs over and over again.

That's why you can 'add variety' by adding another artist or song to your station besides the one you originally made. Although combining Utada and Hamasaki is NOT adding variety...
I tend to enjoy my One Headlight station the most on Pandora.
