This week's poem required us to use slant rhymes. In short, a slant rhyme is when any part of the words sound similar (our instructor is very lenient on this), even if it's at the beginning or in the middle them. It's rather difficult to purposely come up with slant rhymes instead of full rhymes, so I'm not quite as pleased with this poem, but we're supposed to rewrite these later on anyway, so it'll do for now.
ALMOST LATE FOR LATTE
Stuck in traffic, I wait impatiently
For these cars to move. I'm running late!
I go to the people who thirst insatiably,
Craving mocha and tea and the occasional latte.
I must get to work or he'll dock my pay,
That draconian manager who's quick to wrath.
I'll make for our customers whatever they crave,
But please understand that I'm rushing from class.
Finally we move! I drive to the parking lot
And race to the door, panting and coughing.
Barely on schedule I get to the time clock.
Now I'm ready to start making coffee.
