The universe is a cruel, uncaring void. The key to being happy isn't a search for meaning. It's to just keep yourself busy with unimportant nonsense, and eventually, you'll be dead.

I don't know. Extra content sounds nice, but I donno if I'll buy it when I can just play it on my laptop. I considered buying a PSP when I heard there was a version in the works for it, though. Portable Cave Story sounds pretty cool.

Two things I've been meaning to get my hands on for a long whiles now: A Wii and Cave Story. Can't wait until I have time to settle down into this.

No. You need to play Cave Story.

Probably one of the best action-adventure platformers ever.

Started playing Cave Story on my computer with that link you guys posted and I must say, I am enjoying it very much. You start off not knowing much but then you are drawn in to learn what is going on. A lot of modern games will either go "We're going to explain every little detail" or they go "Just shoot things, don't worry about plot"

I have to wonder what the Wii version will offer though. Why should I pay for it when I already have it for free. Oh, and I can't get past the last part. Are you REALLY supposed to beat Misery, Doctor, and the Doctor/Core Boss? Without any save points?

Just to support the author and have a new way to play it.

Plus everything is enhanced and you get an extra mode.

True, the graphics do look better and there will probably be a few additions. And there is supporting the creators, like actually buying music. If I get a Wii, it will definitely be a priority.

It got busted at the beginning of this semester. I think it overheated since we left it on for 2 or 3 days straight since we were playing Brawl for 2 or 3 days straight. One of the boards probably got fried since it turns on and displays the menus, then it will do the preloader for games, but once you press 'Start' it never loads the actual game and the screen goes white. Couldn't find anything online and when I called Nintendo they had never heard of the problem and told me it would probably coast at least $80 to fix. Never sent it in as I started to wonder if I should even stay with the Wii since it's only $150 now. Up in the air between Wii, Xbox360, and PC.

So yeah, I have wooped your ass at Brawl. But this is a thread about the awesome Cave Story. Anyone have any tips on how to get through the 3 back-to-back Bosses?

Spoiler-heavy because of stuff you likely missed (unless you are amazing and/or followed a walkthough). Say hello to a second playthrough if you're a completionist

A) What weapons do you have? I'ma assume you traded your Polar Star for a Machine Gun? ... and boosters v0.8? That makes it far more difficult. Having the Spur + Nemesis + Booster v2.0 makes it sooo easy

B) After one of the fights (pretty sure it's Misery) you can talk to one of the Mimigas in a cage (you have to do it multiple times) and you'll get some heart/life thingies.

C) Use your Life Pot that Jenka gives you. If you've already used it, I'm sorry DON'T do this if going to Hell, you'll want it later

D) Learn the attack patterns, I guess ... also be aware that level 2 and 3 Blade can destroy a lot of incoming bullet/attack things.

E) Missles are your friend. You should have (if I remember correctly) 24-missile capacity if you've gotten all the upgrades.

If you're trying to beat Hell you'll likely want to finish all 3 bosses with completely full health ... which isn't as hard as it sounds.

I really need to play this game again.

Yeah, this. One of the things I like about this game. It's sort of like Beyond Good and Evil, in that it starts off like "oh, normal video game plot" but throws a couple twists your way and you start to feel pretty involved after a while.

So, hmm, the new remixed music kind of sucks. Mostly because there's absolutely no drum track in any song. How did that happen? But, oh well, you can switch to the old music, so not a huge deal. Also, to be honest, I can't really tell the difference switching between the new and old graphics. But that might be partly due to a crappy television.

Some of the charms of the fan translation for the PC are not here, either. "Huzzah" is "Oooohhhh YEEEAAAHHH" now, for instance. I've heard people talk about typos and grammar problems, too, but I haven't noticed that as much so far.

Obviously none of this is game-breaking by any means, it's still awesome Cave Story and I'm having fun with it. Having the option to playing as Curly and a Boss Rush mode is pretty awesome, too.

Although, from what the internet tells me, this is the reason that the DS port does not exist. And that sucks. But that would have been fan made and wouldn't really have supported Pixel, I suppose.
