Chapter 5: Kasper Helmsley and the order of the pearl

Kasper wakes up in an unfamiliar bed in an unfamiliar room. Strayer is laying on another bed, unconscious. Jayce is missing. Kasper wakes Strayer up. Not knowing what happened, and not knowing where their weapons are, Strayer grabs an umbrella, Kasper a boot. They decide to storm the next room but are met by Jayce at the door. He tells them they're at his house, and they drop the umbrella and boot. They are led into the kitchen where Jayce's sister, Caedenda, has made some tea. Jayce explains the town, Caedenda talks about training to be a witch, and teaching Jayce about green magic. Caedenda tells Kasper about how Lobuz brought the magic school to Green Oaks and gave the wanderers of the desert organization and purpose.
Kasper recalls Schnee invoking the name of Lobuz before death. He tells Caedenda that Lobuz can't be trusted. Caedenda says that's impossible, and that Kasper should go see the town before passing judgment. Jayce says he doesn't remember anything from the Schnee fight, and they should trust in Lobuz for all she's done for the town and the world. Jayce takes them out to see the town. Kasper meets an old acquaintance who needs a favor- help taming his pet Cerberus.. They do it and Kasper reminds Achai that he owes him a favor in return. In the market square Kasper participates in an auction where he bids on a mystery box. He wins it, and in the box is a key to a house in the south of town. He remarks that he's liking the town more and more, and that the trust for Lobuz's character is somewhat contagious. That is, until he opens the door of the house and finds a staircase leading down. They descend until they reach a room were the wall slides down, trapping them.
They soon find that they're in a cell, and when a guard enters to devour them, they kill it, and escape into a prison. They fight through until they meet the corruptor, a brain washing demon. They defeat him and go through the door he was guarding, but cannot see their way though the bright light in the next room. They go back to find another way, and meet an imprisoned angel who says she was hijacked from heaven. They bust her out, and she helps them by darkening the light with her magic. On the other end, they fight Amalgus, the hunger elemental. After they beat him, they climb up some stairs and steal an egg off a pedestal. Then, an alarm sounds and they're attacked by another guard. The guard pushes them off the stairs, and they land in a cell far below. There, they meet the grave digger who remarks that they should never have met, Kasper agrees and they fight. The gravedigger summons a teleportation circle and escapes.
They follow and appear right outside the door to the magic school, but it's Saturday, so it's all locked up. They find Achai, who has a key, and they go in. Inside, they're attacked by wizards and fight to the top of a tower. There, they see Lobuz address the gravedigger as Clymidius. She discovers Kasper's party, and they fight. After she looses, Clymidius kills her, takes the orange pearl, and fights Kasper. Before he is beaten, he drops the pearl and escapes again. Kasper takes the pearl, and they all return to Jayce's house.
At Jayce's house, they decide that the best course of action would be to take Fallon back home. Jayce decides that it would put them in God's favor to shepard a lost one home, and consults his bible about what to do. He says they have to take Fallon to where she lived for her to return to heaven. She says something about a froggy pond, and a big mansion. Kasper and strayer agree that she must have lived in Billageburg. Fallon sayst that name sounds familiar. Caedenda remarks that the teleportation station just added a crystal to Villageburg, so they go.
Villageburg has been plunged into darkness and siege. Clymidius' henchmen are searching for the girl. Kasper's party run all over Villageburg fighting the demons laying siege until they meet Clymidius' general- Stigma.She reveals that the girl's Ontos is part of a key that could unlock something that threatens even Clymidius- the tomb of the Horned lord of denial and rebirth.They defeat her as dawn arrives, and a light rain reduces the fires to smoldering embers. They take Fallon to the pond where she drowned. A section parst, and a golden staircase appears. She leaves the party, ascends the staircase, and it all dissapears.
The party decides to go back to Green Oaks, so Kasper can focus his mind on finding the next seed. That night he has a dream about Strayer wandering a great desert alone. Then he comes to a traincar. Before getting on, he asks Kasper if he's coming. Kasper follows Strayer on, but instead of the inside of a traincar, Kasper finds himself on an island afloat in an island of green liquid. Kasper searches for “Strayer, but soon spontaneously combusts, then wakes up. He gathers everyone in Jayce's kitchen, and tells them about the dream. He says they have to go to another desert isle, and they decide to check on the pirates they abandoned at the tip of the desert isle they're currently on.
There at the tip, the pirates have repaired the ship. The crew tells Kasper how they trusted he would return, and even grew the ranks for his return. Kasper admits his surprise, and notices one of the pirates is a little more well mannered, and well kept. They set out, and on the ship, the well kept pirate reveals himself to be a woman, and also that she is Angela's sister Joezy. She joins the party as a way of repaying Kasper for helping to free her from her sister's prison.
Soon, another ship comes into view that is docked off the coast of the Amin desert. Kasper's ship passes by it, notices that it is unoccupied. The pirate navigating the ship then runs it aground on the shore. Kasper orders the pirates to stay behind once more, to careen and repair the ship, as he, Strayer, Jayce, and Joezy travel out to where there is an encampment.

i promise my next update will have some actual content to it. its just easier to color all the battlers right now.

so for more than three months, all ive done has been coloring the battlers. ive got six left, and then its on to tilesets. oh joy. i know i said it last time, but the next update will really have some content to it. i swear.

what earthbound insipiration? thats my favorite game ever made.

ive been working on this for the last few days, and have come to a few conclusions.
1-Square is the reason that palette swaps/cloned buildings/identical characters exist in rpgs. [see dragon quest 8]

2-a game should be as varied as the real world it is modeled after.

therefore-ive taken a bunch of pictures of the houses around here, and theyre going into the game....i just havent drawn them yet.

eight months later, i JUST finished the opening sequence and main town. funny how i only work on this when my gf is home during school breaks... i'll have something sooner or later. ive got the whole story written down now, and a whole bunch of side quests and other stuff to do besides the main quest. something will be playable hopefully by next week.
