YAY Speed Racer! ... I had a shirt with Speed Racer on it...but then it dissappeared v_v
And then there's that Dexter's Lab episode that copied Speed Racer~
was it a navy blue shirt that had Speed Racer written on it in red, and speed posing in front of the mach 5?

Think about what you have just said. But it's being done by those peoples who did the Matrix, so I doubt it'll be too bad.

And without a doubt I can call The Matrix more than a decent movie. It was good.
Now the sequels to it, sucked, yes, but I still love the original.

Hurtling down the track, careening around, over and through the competition, Speed Racer (Emile Hirsch) is a natural behind the wheel. Born to race cars, Speed is aggressive, instinctive and, most of all, fearless. His only real competition is the memory of the brother he idolized-the legendary Rex Racer-whose death in a race has left behind a legacy that Speed is driven to fulfill. Speed is loyal to the family racing business, led by his father, Pops Racer (John Goodman), the designer of Speed's thundering Mach 5. When Speed turns down a lucrative and tempting offer from Royalton Industries, he not only infuriates the company's maniacal owner (Roger Allam) but uncovers a terrible secret-some of the biggest races are being fixed by a handful of ruthless moguls who manipulate the top drivers to boost profits. If Speed won't drive for Royalton, Royalton will see to it that the Mach 5 never crosses another finish line. The only way for Speed to save his family's business and the sport he loves is to beat Royalton at his own game. With the support of his family and his loyal girlfriend, Trixie (Christina Ricci), Speed teams with his one-time rival-the mysterious Racer X (Matthew Fox)-to win the race that had taken his brother's life: the death-defying, cross-country rally known as The Crucible. Written by Warner Bros. Pictures
heres the cast list. http://imdb.com/titl...ullcredits#cast its interesting to see Snake Oiler involved in the story, i wonder if the rest of the car acrobatics team will be in the movie.

You know, all these movies of things from our childhood just means that the people making movies are running out of ideas.

Well, it could end up interesting.

exactly how old are you? i didnt see transformers or tmnt because i never much cared for them when i was little. speed racer is somehting ive gotten into more recently. i really want to see how they do the car because ive wanted to build a working mach 5 since the first time i saw it. i just need a 1967 corvette stingray, and a bunch of other equipment for the steering wheel buttons.

I watched all these shows on Toonami. Sure it wasn't the original stuff, but I still used to watch it all the time. And then there are all the other old kiddy shows that they're turning into movies, like Alvin and the Chipmunks.

It is sad what they're doing to things I cared for...but then again...I don't care for them anymore, so meh.

For what I hear, if you take this seriously it sucks, but if you take it as a tongue-in-cheek and tribute to the original (which never was a completely serious show anyway) it is a fun one.
I never was a huge fan of the anime, but watching the trailer actually made me feel excited and nostalgic... So I'm torn between saving my money and watching something cooler instead, or giving it a shot (without having any high expectations about it).
Has any of you watched it yet? Any opinions?

I haven't seen it yet, but I was kinda wanting to...Plus it has John Goodman in it...which made me realize that he's not dead (for some reason I thought he died a long time ago >.> )
I'll probably just be one of those unsupporting assholes and just pirate it instead.

Most of the action was over-the-top, but it was thoroughly entertaining.
My brother told me about a review by some middle-aged lady who said she didn't like it because it was like a cartoon that was trying to be a cartoon.
...Duh.
