Anywho the summer of '08 i am going to Anime Expo in L.A.

any of you been to any Anime Cons or ever plan on it

Scary. Next summer, if everything goes well, I plan to go to the Anime Expo too with a few classmates of mine. It'll be my first time.

They dont have anime conventions here, sadly, and it they do, I've never heard of one. I would totally get dressed up for one of those.

I've been to two. No, I won't name them. But they were awesome, and I would probably dress up if I could come up with a costume....

omg ludwig your going next year we should meet up im going to be with a group of my friends also im dressing up as Renji from Bleach and they are all dressing up as Bleach/FMA charachters i beleive well at least most of them are....

I was invited to one a while back but cosplayers kinda scare me. I mean, I like anime as much as the next guy but sometimes it gets a bit weird.

oni-con is in october... but im not saving for it... maybe anime matsuri if its at relient again next year... last years was fun, i saw a bunch of my friends there... and made some... we also came up with a wrestling like game in what became the Yaoi room after they kicked us out...

the game was called Rape (i just watched btw... diddnt play)... it was basically wrestling and first to hump the other 10 times wins...

it was hilarious to watch...

That is true... Some cosplayers get too indepth with their ideas and costumes and get a little too overexcited about the whole idea....

American anime conventions now scare me after reading that. I mean...I realize that 'tis biased and 'tis only showing the worst of american + best of japanese...but still...scary

I don't plan to go to one.
A large reason is because I'd be afraid of the cosplayers.
As shown above and at the link.


If I ever did by some chance.... I'd want to go as Toboe from Wolf's Rain. XD (althought kiba would be easier..........)

But not crappy like that link up there. -_-

Cosplaying isn't scary unless done right though. If I was ever going to cosplay, which I won't, I'd probably go as Renton Thurston from Eureka Seven.

Uhm...wouldn't it be scarier if done not-right? Because, to me, it seems like the Japanese were done right = not scary...American = fail = scary (at least going off the link above)~

We have several conventions down here (Mexico City). An average of 4 each year. I haven't been to one since a few years ago. I want to go to the next one (October, most likelly).

The cool thing is that in here we take Cosplay more seriously. As in Japan-cool, and not American-scary.

I might eventually cosplay with my crush... We still don't know what our cosplays could be, but we love dressing up, so...

I'm bumping this topic because Anime Expo 2008 is nearly a month away and I've definitely decided to attend. It looks like I'll have to eat my words when I said "I won't cosplay" because somehow I got convinced to cosplay as Syaoran Li from Tsubasa Chronicles. Even if I don't live that far from where it's held, I still plan to get a hotel that way I can stay out late and I don't have to worry about driving back. :3

I like how I went to one a month after I said that.

I've been to two now, preparing for the next in September. Going as Howl (from the Miyazaki movie) and his jacked it a biotch to make.
I'll barely have any money for it, but... Oh well. I'm going to find someway to stay the night, because I don't want to miss the rave, and I don't think my mom would like me coming back at 3 in the morning. But I can't rent a room, because no money, and they're all already reserved. =/
