The lack of George Lucas makes it seem like this could potentially be a good idea.
But the idea just seems way too bad to get over.
Does this make Leia a Disney Princess now?

I'm torn on this in general - on one hand, I'm such a huge Star Wars geek, so that part of me is excited at the idea of a new movie taking place after VI. This part of the Star Wars timeline is the one that interests me the most. I'm also interested to see the new route taken with the feel of the movie, since I didn't like I, II, or III.
I'm interested to see what route they take for characters as well. It's super easy to make new characters, but completely new faces might not draw the crowds. On the other hand, the lives of the characters from the previous movies have been written into the next generation, and then some.
Either Disney makes it epic, or they make me want to cry. Either way, I will without a doubt be seeing this in theatres.

/>I don't think Disney will go that route. At least, I sincerely hope they don't.
It was a joke.
It will really matter on who the writer/director is.
If they put like John Lasseter in charge of these films, heck yes is it going to be great. If they put Joss Whedon or Brad Bird or someone as a director or writer there is no way the movie would be bad or ignore the already written story of the novels/comic books.
But it could also be horrible.

For years I've been hoping one day Christopher Nolan would do it and this puts a bullet in that idea.
EDIT: So apparently Spielberg was Lucas' first choice to direct Return of the Jedi. So yeah, that'd be my bet.

EDIT: It has been pointed out to me that this will probably mean Star Wars-themed rides at Disney Land.

Have you ever been? There's been Star Wars stuff for decades./>I'm looking forward to this.
EDIT: It has been pointed out to me that this will probably mean Star Wars-themed rides at Disney Land.
Most prominently being Star Tours which is a ride in Tomorrowland.

So apparently VII takes place "decades after VI".
I'm hoping for the Solo children.

Interesting./>The coolest part about Star Tours is that there are 40+ different tours...I only got to go on one. I must go back!
Since the old Star Tours there was only one. I looked it up and it's just 54 different possible combinations. There's really only 8 possible differences though. So you can see everything only after 3 rides.

/>Star Tours has always been my favorite ride. I have no idea why, I think it's just the immersion. It's awesome.
Have you been on Star Tours since it was updated?
I kind of like it better before but it's neat, it has more actual movie characters in it.

Hmmm....still two rides to go, then. + More if the line is short.
Our problem was that we were only spending one day in that park, so we didn't have time to wait for multiple rides. ): I also didn't get to go into the new Toy Story arcade ride because there was a 2 1/2 hour wait! D:

Yeah, doesn't Luke get seduced by the dark-side and Leia become a jedi or something?/>There's lots of potential story that they could do. They could show Master Jedi Luke and the new Jedi Order or something. I'd like to see that.

The universe is a cruel, uncaring void. The key to being happy isn't a search for meaning. It's to just keep yourself busy with unimportant nonsense, and eventually, you'll be dead.
