spoilered to avoid influence. post in spoilers, then read others.
[color=#000000;background:#000000;' onmouseover="this.style.color='#FFFFFF'" onmouseout="this.style.color='#000000']I think this guy's a hero, he's showing the world that information should be of completely free access and that's totally pissing off the elite rulers. even moreso that the common folk like us can have access to it. to me he's like robin hood, a true IRL Troll. The universe is a cruel, uncaring void. The key to being happy isn't a search for meaning. It's to just keep yourself busy with unimportant nonsense, and eventually, you'll be dead.

Lols, absolutely superb.
Also he's just been granted bail, which is a fantastic indication that European legal institutions aren't entirely corrupt. Kudos to them.

No offense to China, but this sounds like something China would do.

It's pretty good stuff, Assange seems genuinely terrified about what's happening to him and Frost asks some really good questions. One of which being whether it's right to leak information that may endanger lives.

And on what you said, Bean, I was watching another interview with Assange where he makes the point that if wikileaks had resulted in the actual endangerment or loss of someone's life, the American politicians and "journalists" would have been all over that story. Even if there were a shred of a possible connection, it would be all over the news. But it's not, and that's likely for a very good reason.

I'd rather he is cleared of his charges. I'm not impatient enough to wish a man dead.i know it's a horrible thing to say, but i wish they would just hurry up and kill assange so the key would get released.

Now shit is entering a new phase. He's in the Ecuadorian embassy desperately pleading for asylum (which in my opinion he is unlikely to get) and a notice has been issued for him to present himself to police to be extradited at a "time of [the police's] choosing."
Here are some unfounded views I have on him:
He probably did rape the wikileaks volunteers, he just seems a bit seedy like that. Though I fully hope that this untrue.
There's probably not enough evidence to convict him of rape so the whole thing benefits nobody except the US who will finally be able to get the hands on him from Sweden.
The leaking of the documents did a whole lot more good than it did evil - but probably not as much good as my idealistic self would have hoped. Though I did get to cite the leaked documents in my dissertation, which helped me personally.
I hate global politics more than ever.

I have no idea what US coverage of this is like. I can imagine it's different to the British, which is different to the Swedish which is different to the Australian, which is different to the Russian and god knows what the Ecuadorians are saying. This guy is totally punk.
