I've been invited to take part in a co-working holiday in Bali next week. The basic idea is that you get to take time out of the office to learn new skills and work on project ideas that you don't normally get any time to work on.

The problem I have is that I have no idea what I'm going to do when I get there. I have a vague idea that I want to learn node js properly and to be able to put together a very minimal cms module that I can use for simple projects. But I've also got a bigt in PHP that I've been putting off working on. As well as that I've got a thousand bits of pieces of work I need to finish off for other projects.

So my question is, if you had a week put aside to work on whatever you want, would you use it to learn new skills, finish off bits and pieces or to get a head start on an upcoming project?

I wanted orange. It gave me lemon-lime...

I would try to finish off the numerous bits and pieces so that they aren't a concern later when I'm trying to learn a new thing or start a new project.

I would clear off all those potential improvement projects that isn't planned in the regular sprints.

Agree with everyone else. Finish up the small projects will free up a lot of your time. I'm positive you'll find a greater sense of accomplishment and a boost of energy to take on a new task now that you have more time!
