Apparently, there are several dozen arguments and hands-up-flapping-trying-to-slap-your-opponent-in-the-face discussions in the Serious Discussion Forum. However, a young, hard-working part-time retail store associate that is busy playing Minecraft and other miscellaneous games has no time to read all of these lovely discussions. I would, but I can't.

 

Could someone please compile a "the very best of" topic with all the funny moments. Imagine how awesome something like this would be for a tv show like Scrubs, and then make it for that forum.

I wish  I could without making the post not make sense. 

 

Pretty much it's less about discussions and more about debate. Throw in some horribly placed opinions, a dash of smart-assry, sprinkled with some developed thoughts coupled with facts and you have the serious discussion forum.

 

It's quite interesting to read, but infuriating at times. I don't have the patients for it myself. That I have have very little facts I could base a lot of my stances on. Oh sure I could go looking, but I'm not one for debating/researching unless I have to.

Yeah I like it at times but have been steering clear recently due to only having a phone to be on this site and some of the arguements may cause me to break my phone. Not to mention I hate reading a wall of text on a phone. It's also a pain to write a wall of text like i'm doing now and I tend to do in that forum. It just takes forever to do.

I just ignore the section all together. Even when a legitimate topic starts such as talking about a current event or a theoretical concept, it quickly plummets into an argument. I just do not care for it.

This is kinda why I wanted a reddit style "sort by reputation" option for viewing threads. It'd be nice to just click on a thread in the serious forum and then read the most upvoted comment. Much quicker than reading through all the shit.

We should just switch from IBF to reddit:

Or just have a separate reddit part of the site. We used to have a separate Imageboard.

I dunno. I get the idea, I just don't know that we have enough active members to make that sort of thing very effective.

 

On the other hand, it is possible to entirely block posts from specific members.

Yes, but if I block all posts from a certain member, it'll work for not having to read this person's stupidity in the argument forum, but then if that person then posts something accusatory of me in the Minecraft thread (hypothetically speaking, of course), then I wouldn't be able to see it and properly destroy that person's argument with a simple response of logic.

 

If we do the upvote thing, I'd allow people to remove their upvotes, and also to be able to downvote.

We must embrace the chaos once more. Besides, it made us different better than Facebook to downvote stuff. Brutal honesty is the best policy.

 

And I have someone blocked on the forums. It has vastly improved my experience on the forums.

I've cloned that reddit repo thingy before. It's really slow unless you have a pretty nice server set up. Minimum 4gb RAM and some other things. I didn't really get why it was so resource intensive.
