Good moorning everyone.

Did you know there was an awards show this week? There's no recording of it but you sure can talk about it! You can also look to see if you won an award! If you didn't know about it you probably didn't win, but now you can work at it all year to be sure you get one for 2014!

Members here are quite attractive, if you didn't know. But who is the prettiest? Well we won't know until you all post your beautiful faces. (although it's probably Puffin based off of awards won, upvotes, basic sight, etc..)

Sports things also happened and there's a big sports thing happening this weekend. It'll be super.

Member of the Week

BottomGuy
BG just can not catch a break when it comes to MOTY awards. Always one to be on the bottom of votes. Ironically, BG's first foray into MP was during the first MOTY awards show, as the titular "guy on the bottom". Yet two years in a row he's been overlooked, but really, he's the member of the year every year in my heart. (Also he posted about a kick ass board game I want to play +1 for that.)

Game of the Week

I played this game because Hyperlisk told me to (either this or his game, which was already GOTW). I had forgotten this was made by Amethyst, so it's fitting considering Ame just won Game Designer of the Year and Project of the Year for her always GOTW and site crashing game, Pokemon Reborn. This game however, really lacks the polish that PR has that makes it worthy of being POTY. It tries to do a lot of things and I don't think it does any of them particularly well. The story is a little too talky with very little understanding of anything that's happening, with character dialogue that really blend together. It has a few glitches (like leveling up) and varies from way too easy to way too hard. Yet, the game is beautiful, and it shows a lot of promise and good ideas. I never was really bored with it until I kept getting stuck (and both reasons were pretty stupid on me). Despite its flaws, it's worth playing just to see Ame's previous ambitions.

Poll of Last Week!

stuffthatllneverhappen.png

It seems like what you guys want videos the most. Maybe you guys should you know, video more often. Or maybe we should combine the top two voted on results and combine them into a video uploading contest with prizes! (hint hint (although it probably won't happen (especially since I won laziest member of the year)))

What did we play?

Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale, Phantasy Star, Cherry Tree High Comedy Club, Minecraft, RPG Maker VX Ace, Chantelise: A Tale of Two Sisters, Farcry 3, Dishonored, GTA V, DmC, Battlefield 4,

What did we read?

The Sign of Four by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, School Junk by old boring people probably, Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy

What did we watch?

How I Met Your Mother, Sherlock

What did we listen to?

Exile Vilify by The National, Furniture by Final Fantasy/Owen Pallett, Let's Get Ridiculous by Redfoo, Julio (La Del Pollo) by Mike T, Baby Love Child by Pizzicato Five, 4'33" by John Cage, Remurdered by MogwaiChop 'n' Quench Vocal Version by Fela Kuti Jeun K'Oku (I guess, I don't really know/want to put much effort into this), The Mirror Reflecting (Part 2) by The Haxan Cloak, Training Hard by iono, Beer by Reel Big Fish

Super Sports Ball 48 (or whatever number it is now)

Horses and Birds!

One Horse has won a Super Sports Ball as a Horse of a different variety!

One of the birds is a self promoting jackass who thinks a gold miner is a mediocre receiver!

Congrats BG! Just change your name for next year's awards so we vote for you.

Based on poll results I hope to see more Mummy videos. Also, I won't mention anyone by name, but there's another popular monkeypro celeb who I think would have a very popular mtVP channel if he ever started one.

Clearly I must change my name to WinnerGuy for the awards next year. The plan cannot fail!

I don't think I've really watched the videos that have been uploaded to the site. I really need to start exploring the rest of the site that isn't the forums.

Or we just need to integrate everything with the forums.

I hate websites that are just fully integrated with the forums and look terrible.

So no.

Could it be fully integrated with the forums and not look terrible?

We've made too many compromises already, too many retreats. They invade our space, and we fall back. They assimilate entire worlds, and we fall back. Not again. The line must be drawn here! This far and no further!

Such witchcraft does no exist.

It would really require one of two things:

Completely redesigning the site to look like the forums, which I think looks stupid and we're not going to do. It'd also require multiple themes for the main site that look like the themes we have on IPB. Possibly a lot of other things I'm not thinking of.

Completely redesigning the forum to look like the site. Which also would look stupid. No one on this forum really has the expertise to skin the forum to look like the site, and there's a good chance of lack of usability if that is the case.

The other option is to redesign both. But the same problems arise and it's really not even worth it because none of you would really care anyways. You'd all probably be more upset because the forum would look different with potential for less usage.

It's something that could happen, but not something that would happen any time soon. Especially while no one really uses the site nor submits much.

Would it be possible to have a forum category for the videos, that automatically created a post whenever a video is up uploaded?

I could possibly do that VP. I've thought of that before too. But in reality, it doesnt take all that much effort to visit the home page from time to time. Its probably just a matter of breaking the ingrained habit of only visiting the forums.

Yeah, I don't really understand what's so hard to go to the home page and just click the forums button instead of going straight to the forum.

We can't just put everything on the front page of the forum index/in the forum, that'd be ridiculous.

Here's my biggest thing though, if we just integrated the site/forum fully what is the point of the site exactly? We've already established that you guys don't use the website, and I don't think adding it to parts of the forum would work much, since you guys also just tend to ignore anything you don't use.

The point of having the videos on the site and not the forum is to encourage you guys to go to the site. Same with the poll and all of Glace's cleaning up of my shitty PHP. If we just added everything from there to here what is the point of even having a there? Then it'd just be one of those terrible sites that are just an IPB forum with other junk.

I mean that's kind of the problem with this place, the place everyone wants to be is here, not there. No matter what we do we'll never really encourage you guys to go there, and combining the two will just make here feel clunky and too much junk here.

Honestly though, if I had more time/graphical prowess I would really like to make the two more seamless? Maybe not any more integrated than what Glace has now, but less of the feeling that the forum and the site are two separate entities. It's just makes it a bit harder since IPB has a lot to it, and I doubt anyone here would want to change.

But also, it's that there is no serious content providers on this site. I feel like I should be the one to drive that, but meh life. If there was content and traffic I'd feel more inclined that we should do everything to make the site better, but since none of that is happening there's little point. I think what we have from what Glace has done is wonderful for the size and traffic of this place.

I will say, as someone who isn't a content provider

That I would provide content if I had anything worth showing.

I personally don't mind the current set-up. As you said, it's to encourage to use of the site away from the forums.

I found that it's done just that for me. I enjoy spending separate time from the forums on the site page. I like getting points by commenting/uploading/voting. Plus it's a nice change of scenery.

If I had a way to contribute right now I would. I would write a song a week regardless of how good they are and post the video of me playing. But right now I have no computer and no video recording device as well as no way to upload really. Soooo...
