Is there an IP Board mod for that?

I had a look at the Reputation History mod but it doesn't seem to do it.

It might not be too hard to make ourselves.

But what do you mean? Sort the threads by total popularity of the posts in the thread or sort the posts in a thread by popularity?

The second one.

I don't want posts within a thread to be displayed chronologically. Instead I want them to be displayed in order of the reputation they've earned.

If possible there would be a button in each thread to toggle between the two views.

Well no, I was just curious about how some threads would look if they were organized reddit-style. I don't want it for every thread, or want everybody to use it, I just wanted the option.

I might also buy/steal IPB and upgrade it too.

If you are updating things, getting the latest version of the sidebar blocks would save us a step every week. Our current version doesn't support php. Not a huge deal, but it would be more convenient.

Would it be possible to use the "Highest Rated Content" page to rank threads according to the total amount of reputation for all posts it contains?

That sounds complicated, since you'd basically have to make a function that sorts threads by reputation...and also a function that adds up all the reputation in a thread.

 

I could try working on it but I do not guarantee success.

You went at it backwards. It would probably be easiest to add all the reputation in each thread, then rank each thread based on the total reputation. You could probably dump the thread info in an array, and then output each to something I don't even know what I'm saying anymore.

Well of course I was going to do it the opposite way of what I said. I don't even understand how I'd be able to sort a thread by reputation without counting up the reputation first. I'd just be ranking nothing.

I don't know, you could sort the threads by the reputation of the first post, then add the rest of the posts' reputations together, then resort them but that's getting to tdwtf levels of obtuse.
